Motivational Monday || Letting Go

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Merry Monday to you my little puffballs. Ooof the festive spirit is upon me. If I could call you candycansugarsnaptwinklelightpuffballs I would. Oh wait.

Today's motivation is a bitter sweet but positive one.

Sometimes, the very best thing you can do is let go. A scary, scary concept.

I'm the kind of woman who likes to have her shiz together at all times, micro manage everything and everyone and keep all the balls in the air (ooer).

Recently it dawned on me that in certain areas of my life, I. Just. Can't. I can't keep everything contained and perfect. I can't control other people. I can't make every single thing be exactly what I want it to be and by trying I only upset, hurt and frustrate myself.

What's the point? Surely there are other precious areas of life you could focus your valuable energy on?

This week I decided to fully, fully let go of something. It's not a major thing but a thing none the less and I tell you what, I feel so good for it. I actually feel more in control for letting go of trying to control it. How crazy is that?

I know how frightening it can be to consider letting go of something. I know it can feel like if you let go you won't ever be able to pick it up again or that you won't be able to manage but, I think you will. Give it a try. If you are worried, just let go a tiny bit and see how you feel. Baby steps.

Apologies if this all sounds very mysterious and dramatic, it's not, I just think some things are better left unsaid.

What will you be letting go of this week?

Toodlepip!

xx

  10. I let go of a huge part of my life yesterday and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done... It doesn't feel real at all but this post has made me calm down a little and realise that things will be okay so, thank you!

  17. Its crazy how this relates to me. Last night I finally decided to let go of my awful ex boyfriend- i had been holding onto him for 5 months whilst he used me and seeing this this morning just made me feel like I've done the right thing by letting go and blocking him on everything. Thank you Louise. xox

  22. It really relates to my situation right now. Yesterday night, when I lay in bed I thought about the meaning of life and especially my life choices so far. I was in doubt about if it was the right thing to do letting someone go 2 weeks ago.
Your post gave me new motivation :)
Hope you have a nice week!

  23. great reminder for a Monday :)

This week I am letting go of beating myself up for not feeling like "exercising"
allowing myself to eat well even if i do NOT exercise
letting go of the fact that I am active ,therefore I do not need to schedule a structured workout daily!

    ahhhhhhhhh let it go

  31. I'm so glad you wrote this post. I haven't seen many similar ones, to be honest. But I think it's really important to address this issue. There is so much people out there who are struggling with this big, heavy boulder of worries and either they're going to let go and drop/move the boulder or it's going to crush them. (or keep crushing them)
Letting go can easily be one of the hardest things to do. If it's not hard, it probably wasn't as important (or as big of a deal) to the person as they thought. If you can easily flip over that big, heavy looking stone, it was probably made of cardboard. It takes strength to move the real stone even a bit. But, just like you said, baby steps.
Thank you so much for making this post, Louise. Lots of love xo

  32. I've been learning this lesson recently as well. I tend to take on everyone else's problems as my own, trying to find a solution for each one all day. It's really quite freeing to just let go, and let others take care of their own responsibilities. The world will carry on just the same.
    Thank you!

  65. Well said.

Just because some bloggers/vloggers are more in the public eye than others doesn't mean we have to divulge all the gory details. It's not about how you got there, but that you were able to get there and let go. I for one would rather read blogs about HOW they overcame something, not WHAT they overcame.

Life is about enjoying and embracing everything, despite the crappy bits in between. Great post.

  66. This was really helpful, I'm the kind of person that never let go things because I feel like letting go = giving up and Give up is not something I'm used to do or that I even like doing. Anyways all I get holding on to certain things is to stress out and get upset and sad which is not good! This really made me see things from another perspective :) xx

  68. I love this idea - especially when we as people can get so incredibly caught up with the little things in life! I'm definitely the kind of person to focus on the littlest of things that really don't matter in the long run, and I am a big over-thinker! I'll try this week to let go and allow myself to just be :)

I actually just wrote a blog post similar to this one, on my University experience and mental health issues. It's not something I ever thought I would share, but it's bloggers like you that do discuss these issues, that make me feel like I can share my story too.
