Bargain Bunting Bracelet

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I don't know about you, but I find great satisfaction in buying something I love. However, I find even greater satisfaction in buying something I love that is also a total and utter snip!

Bunting Bracelet

This bargain bracelet was from ebay and I bloomin' well love it! I have been wearing it a lot this summer and since I have had so many people ask me where it's from and then be shocked when I said, 'Ebay for £2.39 with free postage', I thought I'd show it off on here.

It is quite literally 'cheap as chips' but I doesn't feel tacky. It's metal with an enamel type coating on the bunting triangles and has a nice weighty feel to it.

Since it was so affordable, I actually ordered a few more to use as stocking fillers (yes, I'm spreading the cost and will feel oh-so-smug come December) this Christmas.

If you have read this blog from the start and seen my many and various DIY and craft projects, you'll know I'm a big lover of bunting, so this is right up my street!!

What do you think? A good deal indeed?

Turquoise Gold

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

With Summer in full swing (or at least whenever it feels like it), I have noticed that I am migrating towards warmer colours in my accessories.

I find that in S/S I go for golds and warm tones and then in the Winter I prefer silvers and purples. Why is this? There must be some psychology behind it.

(Oooooooohhh faannnccyyy- rounded corners!)

A couple of pieces I have been wearing a LOT of late are this bead and skull bracelet* from Unique Beads (£5) and these dinglydangly earrings from River Island (£12).

The earrings are long, jazzy and make a little tinkling noise as they move. I heart them so very much with volumised curly hair and a plain top/dress. This is a bit old school Disney, but they sort of remind me of Esmarelda from the Hunchback of NotreDame. Hmmm, I wish I was a French gypsy girl who could do mysterious tricks and look that hot in rags!

Just a quick post today because my cousin and her chums are coming over to have a trial run for their prom makeup that I'm doing. If they'll let me, I'll show you the before and afters. This year I'm doing 6 girls prom makeup looks, so I'm very excited.

What colours do you migrate to in Summer?

Lou's Reviews :: Scarlett Hearts Handmade Jewels

Aloha Spinklerinos,

As those of you who have read this blog for a while (a big 'Hello' if you're new!) will know, I am a keen crafter and lover of all things handmade. I really do value something someone has put time and effort in so much more than something that has been mass made on a factory production line. That's not to say I don't own boxes and boxes of tangled up primark jewels, but I do hold a special place in my heart for a girl who can make gorgeous accessories.

Scarlett Hearts is one such shop. I was recently sent some beautiful pieces* and although I think I showed you them in a video, I felt they needed to be oogled a bit more! I won't go on and on like a drain (do drains go on and on??) because you can see the pictures for yourselves and the link is above, but I must say, I do like them! I'm not really too 'out there' with jewellery, but for me, this is quirky and cute and just what I'm looking for in life. Aside from a million pounds, a hunky gardener, a pink unicorn....

All my bits and bobs were beautifully packaged. I LOVE opening up little trinkets and gifts, it makes me feel glittery inside.

Slightly blurry- grrrr.

Golden Snitch Necklace

As a rather geeky Potter fan (I've actually been on the Hogwarts Express steam train dontchya know!), the golden snitch necklace was my favourite. I like how it opens up and you can hide secrets inside. Aren't secrets devilishly exciting?

If I could make one minor improvement (and this is not a criticism, just a personal opinion), I would have liked the chain to be the same colour metal as the snitch, but other than that, I was one happy bunny!!!

If you have a mo, do go and have a browse of the Scarlett Heart shop, it's a treasure trove of goodies.

Are you a handmade gal? Do you secretly love Harry Potter as much as me? Do you like secrets? Do you think I'm asking too many questions? Do you? DO YOU?!? ;)

*CLOSED* Sterling Silver Birds Giveaway *CLOSED*

Aloha Bloggerinos,

Not too long ago, whilst cruising round etsy.com in my imaginary virtual convertible (it's a mauve 1950's Cadillac with pink and gold sparkles in case your interested), I stumbled across the most charming little etsy store called Ivory Cove and instantly fell in love.

I was so intrigued by all the gorgeous pieces because they were unlike anything I had seen in highstreet stores and proper jewellery shops that I felt compelled to know more. Now I know that's a little odd, but I have a thing. I have a deep love for handcrafted items, no matter what they are. My Mum used to run craft fairs and make pressed flower arrangements and so I grew up around craftyness. I have seen how much love and hard work craftspeople put into their things and therefore I value the item so much more.

So, I decided to contact the shop owner and ask her a little bit about Ivory Cove on the planning that I would then do a little feature of the cool shop on here. Well, once we got to chatting, Taryn (Ivory Cove's Creator) said I could actually have one of the lovely pieces of jewellery to show all you lovely Bloggerinos! Yowzas!

Taryn used to make beautiful pieces of jewellery for herself and as someone who (like me) is a lover of all things creative, she decided to set up an etsy store to share her passion and make a few extra pennies. Currently she is a working part time as an Accounting Clerk, is also studying, is also a loving wife and is alllsssooo up to the eyeballs with orders for Ivory Cove. She is one busy lady!!

I'm so glad she finds time to make these lovely things because the birdy nest is uber cute and features throughout the store in silver and gold, on necklaces (like mine above), earrings and also rings. I've got my eye on the matching ring to this I think!

I've worn the necklace practically every day since receiving it which is quite unlike me as I like to mix things up every day, but I absolutely adore it, it's so unique and I've had LOADS of compliments on it too *smiles*. What was quite unusual though is that I had compliments on it from such a wide spectrum of people with different ages, tastes and even genders! I think this means this necklace would make a fantastic gift for someone.

It doesn't feel flimsy, doesn't turn my neck green, hasn't faded or broken (even when Baby Glitter tries to pull on it- naughty little glitterbug!) and looks great on my natural pale skin or with a fake tan. What more could you ask for? I think it helps that Taryn uses genuine precious metals because you really can tell it is high quality and not cheapy feeling at all.

I really hope Ivory Cove takes off and becomes a huuuggee success so that Taryn can devote all of her time to it and make more gorgeous blingy birdy treats for us all!

To say Thank You for checking out Ivory Cove, Taryn has very kindly offered you all the chance to win one of these amazing sterling silver necklaces too- Yippeeee!!

To enter is simple:

Lou's Reviews: Pearl Island Jewellery

Aloha Bloggerinos,

Earlier this week I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from the lovely people at Pearl Island Jewellery asking if I would like to review some of their products. Ummmm pretty accessories? Yes Please!! Naturally I bit their hand off for the opportunity and I was promptly sent some lovely pieces.

I will get round to doing a youtube video as well but at the moment I shall just stick to the bloggersphere (ie I look hot and red and gross- can someone turn the sun down please?).

All the pieces I was sent are things I would definitely wear and the kind of things you might find in Accessorize (aka Heaven!!).

So, some snaps of my little gems:

This Eiffel Tower necklace is my favourite. When i looked on the website, I thought it would be the Royal Carriage, but like the wind, I changed my mind. This is what I would call a mid-long length necklace (it sits on my cleavage-oh la la). The website says 24 inches if that means anything to you?

This necklace is perfect for adding a hint of summer frivolity to an outfit but not going mental, just right.

rrp: £5

Pretty pretty pretty. Likey Likey Likey!

These pearls are definitely like the things I make and wear. I love the little gold beads, to give the set a bit more glamour and modernise a ladylike favourite.

I have worn these quite a few times already and one thing that really stood out was the elastic the pearls are strung on. I often find with these sorts of bracelets that the elastic is really super thin and snaps easily. This elastic feels quite sturdy so that is a brucey bonus indeed.

rrp: £5

This is another mid-long necklace and is the Royal Carriage design. I love the whimsy of it and think it isn't something you would see all to often. I find it a bit reminiscent of Cinderella which give me a warm fuzzy.

On a less positive note, I wore this to the office on Thursday and by 5pm I had lost the bow and the pearl which I was a bit bummed about. I don't think I was particularly rough with it but I suppose I did fiddle with it when I was reading things etc, so I would advise you to be delicate with it.

rrp: £7

Look how detailed it is :)

I have had a good nosey at the website and now have my beady little eyes on the camera ring and gold key necklace. What do you have your eyes on?
