My Bed Love

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

This past year I have had the good fortune to stay over in quite a few beautiful hotels. For me, what makes or breaks a hotel is the bed. I like the sheets to be crisp, the pillows to be plentiful and the mattress fit for a princess. In short, I am a high maintenance diva who knows exactly what she wants!

When we moved into our home 4 years ago (wow time flies!), we went from a fully furnished rental to a sparse in-need-of-repairs house. The very first thing we bought was a bed and despite it being a rushed purchase, to this day I am happy with our decision.

We opted for the 'Liervik' bed frame and Sultan Flokenes memory foam mattress from IKEA, which totalled £505. One of the best £505 I have ever spent. Added to that we spent £30 on a reeeaaaaallllyyy (I'm talking in excess of 5m) string of white LED fairy lights to wrap round the bedframe. Ikea only seem to stock these lights around Christmas so if you are after some, keep your eyes peeled.

For 4 years we just threw on our current (polyester filled I think?) duvet which was super cosy and regular old pillows. The only person who regularly gets new pillows is Miss Darcy and that's because she is a sweaty little sleeper and I want her to feel fresh when she wakes up.

So, back to the first paragraph. After staying in some b-e-a-utiful hotels this year, I decided I wanted to bring a little bit of that luxury into my bedroom and so splashed out on some gorgeous new bedding to give my slumber a little zing.

We opted for a John Lewis Goose Down 10.5 tog duvet in 'King Size' despite our bed only being a double- we want extra cosyness. I was a luxury buy at £160 but ermihgerd every time I hear that crinkle and rustle I think my heart melts just a little bit. To go with the duvet we bought the Olivia Bedding as all our other covers would have been too small. The sheeting is incredibly soft with just enough detail to make it interesting but not enough to clash with anything else in the room- I have always been a sucker for white bedding.

The pillows are hollowfibre and from Dunnes Homestore for £13 each. I considered purchasing feather ones but my purse was hurting and asked me to hold out a while!

We also bought Baby Glitter new bedding but I will save that for another post if you are interested? Oh, and what did we do with our old duvet? We laid it ontop of the mattress and then lay the sheet over that- hai there most amazing night sleep ever sandwiched between two duvets. Give it a go, your well rested body will thank you.

Overall, a big ol' spend but oh-so-worth it. I have completely abandoned my home office and have worked from my bed almost every evening this week! What a life!!

In time I will be adding more pillows and maybe a throw, but for now, this is my haven.

Please do tell me what you do to make your bed your nest and if you have any 'best night sleep ever' tips, leave them in the comments!

Baby Zara Haul

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Whilst shopping with Matt and Darcy last week I popped into Zara to see if they had any cute Autumn baby pieces and was happily rewarded with an Aladdin's cave of beautiful fall clothing. Oooh I could've bought the whole shop!

I don't have the tags still on the clothes but as with most things from Zara, I would say they were highend highstreet. For example, the brown boots were £29.99, which compared to H&M, Primark, Tu, Mothercare and Next (our usual stop offs for baby clothing) is quite steep. If you would like to check exact prices or specifications of items, HERE is the website.

Both pairs of shoes are in a size 5 and with Darcy being a size 4 in one foot and 4.5 in the other (very common in little children), she'll be in them as soon as the chilly weather really sets in. The mary jane's remind me of a childhood of buckle-up shoes and woollen tights so I couldn't resist passing down the memories.

Currently she isn't too keen on the felt hat but little by little she is letting me put it on her. I don't want to force her to wear it so at the moment we're talking about it like it's a fun or special toy and she's slowly taking to it. Fingers crossed it becomes a permanent feature because with her little curls peeping through at the bottom it just makes my heart melt.

I plan on filming some kind of Autumn Lookbook or taking OOTD snaps (providing on what the little madam will let me do with a camera- she's very particular these days) so do keep your eyes peeled for that.

What is your favourite item from our haul? Would you like to see more of these on the blog or do you just prefer these in a video format?

The Best Of September

I need to report a crime, someone has stolen September.. where did it go?!

Once again Sprinkle of Glitter has been a very busy blogging month and with that in mind I decided a monthly round up was in order in the form of another 'best of' post! I've had several celebratory days this month as well as exciting adventures with work and friends! So without further ado, let's go!

At the beginning of the month I shared some summery snaps HERE of a jolly little late August adventure Matt and I, along with our chum Claire, took Darcy on. I love a good ol’ family day out to nearby beauty spots and documenting these adventures with my swishy big girl camera.

I also began a new series on Sprinkle of Glitter in September, 'Monday Insights'. Each week I give you a topic to freely ask whatever you like about it and I will answer the next week. I've been pleased as punch with the response from you Sprinklerinos so far! Last week I answered your questions on relationships HERE

This month I celebrated my 3rd Chumiversary with Zoe, so naturally I shared all the warm and fuzzy feelings I have towards my bestest chum HERE. Chummy is the pea I most like to share my pod with and I'm glad to have shared our Chumiversary with you too! After all you've been a part of our friendship from the very beginning.

Another celebration this month, Sprinkle of Glitter turned 4! Starting my very own Glitter World has made me a happy little clam and naturally I have to celebrate the milestones. Alongside sharing a picture me aged 4, I also shared my blogging enjoyments over the last year and my hopes for the next 365 days of Sprinkle of Glitter HERE.

I decided to beautify things up on Sprinkle of Glitter last week in the form of 'oooh look at that swishy product, aah look how hydrating it looks'. In other words I shared my skin saviours with you HERE. With the help of a few snaps I shared my love for the products I use to keep myself silky smooth and soft to the touch from lips to legs.

Lastly we put down the big girl camera in favour of September iPhone snaps to document some of this months adventures. I'm considering making 'My iPhone Life' posts a regular on Sprinkle of Glitter as I love sharing snippets of my daily life with you Sprinklerinos, would this tickle your pickle?

And that's my best of September, phew! I've thoroughly enjoyed Autumn so far and I'm excited to welcome October and it's adventures with open arms and a heavily knitted cardigan or two!

Did you enjoy September? Are you glad to be one season closer to Christmas?
