The Cheek Of It All

Aloha Bloggerinos!

Not a review or chat today, but a question. Here is a picture of my cheek (how random of me) at about 4pm. Now, I put my makeup on about 7am and by about 4pm, it's gone. Without primer, foundation, powder etc, my cheeks are naturally rosey so this pretty much shows this.

Well my question is, what is it??? Is it too much pigment? Is it rosacia? What?! I've had it since I was about 15 years old and I have no idea! Grr! Does anyone else have this and if so, is there any way of ridding it? Thank you to all you complexion wizz kids who do comment!

Toodlepip!

PS. My Dad says it means I'm and "English Rose". Good old Dad! xxx

  1. It definitely isn't rosacea...search on google images. And there is a HUGE HUGE difference between your excessively flushed cheeks compared to that. I sometimes have very flushed cheeks (so red in fact, that they look like I've piled on red blush. It's bad!) but that's usually to heat. All I can tell you is to cover it up =/

  2. I have this too and i think it's just down to genetics, and is more common with pale people i suppose as it shows up more. My make up only lasts about two hours it's horrible..wish i knew what to do

I guess if yours isn't down to genetics it could be because of an irritation, is it always like this? sometimes my face gets particularly red and inflamed if i wash my face or use a face wipe for example xx

  3. Hey GlitterStich, don't fret :)
I too have red cheeks like yours and I don't mind them :) It's very common with sensitive/fair skin folk and is caused by the rapid dilation of the blood vessels from increased blood pressure, typically when you are hot or when there is a fast change in temperature. There are some anti redness creams that can help, for example Clarins and Clinique both have creams for this.
Drinking a good glass of cold water can help your cheeks cool down too xx

  5. This looks exactly like my cheeks! :p
I've always had it, even when i was little i've had rosey cheeks, i went to the doctor and he said it definately wasn't rosacia...
just that it was a genetic thing,
I might try some of Emma's advice though, clinique counter here i come :)

  6. I agree, it definitely isn't rosacia. One of my friends has flushed cheeks like this all the time too, I can see why it would annoy you but your dad is right, its because you are an english rose and it looks pretty! At least you don't have to pile on the blusher to make you look less corpse-like, like me! Ellie x

  9. Hi, i have the same thing and have often worried what causes it. I think it's just a pigmentation thing, definately not rosacea. I'm fine with my face as is normally, the flush looks ok, but if i get embarrassed or hot my whole face goes bright, bright red like a lobster!

  10. Alot of ppl have a natural rosy cheek, I wouldn't stress. You could always use a color corrector to with green in it to hide it though if it bothers you. I think you look pretty natural though :)

  11. Im like Lillian, quite pink normally but if I get embarrassed I go lobster red! My nan gets it too so it must be genetic and we're both very pale so it shows alot! I always take out You're bluffing concealer by Benefit in my bag, works a treat for a quick fix!

  12. Is the skin a little bit lumpy or smooth? If it's smooth then it's probably just sensitive skin, if it's a little bit lumpy, it could be keratosis pilaris on the face, I've got it and it's not great but you can just use some yellow concealer to cover it up!

  13. I know that this is a very late post but I am really hoping it will help you and others. I also have this red cheeks problem and have recently found something which seems to help even out the skin tone. It is Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream which I have reviewed here http://tinylittlegirlie.blogspot.com/2011/02/fresh-happy-skin.html

    Hope that this helps you.

  14. I have some of this on one cheek near my jawline. It's Just Red For no Reason. But it's not spread out like yours, my brother has this and my mum think it's from his genes.

  15. Hey! I think you might have "Keratosis Pilaris". It's a condition that i have which basically means i have sensitive red cheeks (which can flush a LOT if i'm really cold or hot!) and also tiny spots that just look like freckles on my upper arms. If you have the upper arm thing too then you probably have KP. I'd recommend a calming cream like E45 :) Hope this helps!! xx
