New Year, New Me?

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Happy New Year!

As is customary with the first of a new year, I have made some realistic and some rather unrealistic resolutions that I'd like to try and uphold. Last year I planned to be a size 14 by Christmas, organise my bank statements and save a grand. And I achieved none of these. Excellent.

387476_285932318105735_281478275217806_947689_1719000568_n_large
(Nope, the image -from weheartit.com- has nothing to do with new year or resolutions, but hello..waffle hearts with pink rainbow confetti sprinkles?! How could I not share!?)

That being said, I'm ready to go with fresh enthusiasm and vigour (Oooh I love that word...vigggourrrrr).

1. Lose about 5 stone and spend all my days frolicking in a bikini flouting my non wobbling thighs, having baths that I don't create a little damn of water with my bottom and trying on ridiculously tiny dresses in Zara and suchlike. Maybe a tad far?

2. Save up enough money to take myself, Matt and Baby Glitter on holiday to America. IHOP calls me.

3. Eat five portions of fruit and veg and do thirty minutes exercise a day. I'm not going to weigh or measure myself because frankly, to me, diets and weightloss things are mind blowlingly dull so I'm just going to try and be more healthy. I think if I do this, excess fattybumbumness will go away slowly. Any tips and advice on this topic (ie. Easy low fat snacks, easy little exercise tricks. Please note, I hate cooking and sweating so easy and quick are key here!) are welcome!

4. Be proud of my blog and channel. Sometimes when I tell people that I don't know very well what I do, I feel like a silly little girl that plays with and writes about lipgloss. But I'm not, so I'm going to stop acting like it.

5. Continue to love, cherish and nurture Baby Glitter.

There are quite a few other little things I intend to do like keeping my wardrobe tidy, actually taking my toenail polish off rather than just going over again with the same colour in the hope nobody will notice and stop blurting out mental things to people I barely know, but I shan't bang on and on.

I must say, if 2012 treats me half as well as 2011 did, I'll be one happy lady indeed. Will this be another golden year?

What do you plan to achieve this year?

Toodlepip!

xx

  2. Good luck with your goals! Regarding exercise/healthy eating, one of the best things to do is go on long walks. You could take Baby Glitter for a stroll around the park (it will obviously be more fun in summer) but even a 15 minute walk will do wonders. :)

  8. Good luck with all your goals! Happy new year!

For weightloss and such, I think you should check out this youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/josielenore
She has really helped change my life and has revolutionized my outlook on food and why I eat. She seems to have helped many people, including myself, so thought I'd just let you and others know about her channel :)

    All the best! xxx

  9. Good luck with your resolutions! I don't know if you have any game consoles, but I started doing Zumba Fitness on our Xbox Kinect and it is so fun to do. You can set a weekly workout schedule and the game keeps track of it for you. The songs are catchy and exercising is more fun when you earn points, haha :) xx

  10. Thanks for sharing this with us :) Concerning the exercise: have you ever considered doing Zumba? I always hated sports (and still do), but the fun thing is, that Zumba doesn't feel like sport though you're sweating. It's just like having fun within a group of girls and dancing around.

I started doing resolutions again this year, after years of doing it. The toughest one for me will be to participate in a 10 km run in June...I'm so not sure if I'll ever be able to do it, but I really wanted and have to challenge myself, because right now, I can't even run for 500m without getting out of breath.

All the best, and the best of luck for achieving what you wish for. Have a great 2012 :)

  12. i have a little tip for you.
my boyfriend is really keen on sports and he does this a lot: a good little snack would be some lowfat quark with fruits (although you hate cooking, you just have to cut fruits and mix it) :) you feel full after it but it's so good for your body!
    happy new year xx

  15. I have you to thank for my exercise routine - well, you and the others youtubers. I click on all my subscriptions and then happily watch you chat away whilst i peddle away on my cross trainer for 30 minutes each day.
Cross trainers are great, you don't have the problem of bad weather or lack of time. It's a comfortable exercise and you can start small and build up easily without looking stupid & unfit like you would with running in public. I *hate* exercise yet i've managed to keep up the cross trainer for 11 months now. Happy New Year to you and your lovely family :-) XX

  22. Oooo cute post. I have watched you, read you and twitter stalked you for ages but never really communicated with you... So HELLO!!!
One of the things I did last time I dieted and will do this time for my resolutions was to go meal by meal. I always try to choose the best options and if i need to have some junk (which is only natural) then its just one meal that is wasted not an entire day. I get right back onto it after the naughty meal... I started doing that because I would have something naughty and think "oh I blew might as well have pizza for tea tonight"... I also stop beating myself up about the little little bits here and there...
Good luck with it all. I will be starting tomorrow also. X Stalk yoou on twitter soon. X

  25. Happy New Year 2012 !

Well on the losing weight front
Eat less. Believe me. Forcing yourself to eat things you don't want to, or obsessing about the food you eat, unless you're psycho.. doesn't work
So eat less. If you can, don't fry food, bake them, and limit your intake of fried food. Heartbreaking I know D:
Invest in a non stick pan ! Makes you use less oil/butter
Buy veggies you actually like ?
Eat more rice ! <- My new year's resolution xD
Have a smaller plate of food, and have a small bowl of rice. It'll fill you up (y)

    Exercise wise..
Walk. If you think you can walk instead of taking the bus, walk it. It's pretty relaxing and you don't have to deal with other people lol

  26. Marmite seeds are a lovely snack, I try to eat them when I get bored and start thinking about food, although I'm not sure how good they are! You just put a tiny weeny bit of butter on a tray to grease it, then plop a bit of marmite on top, and roll the seeds around in it. The put it in the oven for 5-10 mins on a medium heat. They are so nice, and I hate marmite!? Try it, if you are craving unhealthy food! xxo

  27. Hahaha I saw that picture and I was expecting like a recipe or something. I always fail to live up to my new year resolutions, but hopefully you end up doing yours :)

  28. Some tips for you: don't buy a ton of candy, cookies, fried foods, ... to make at home, but instead, treat yourself to a cupcake or brownie when you're out and about, that way, you don't eat a whole box of things that are "bad" for you. Vegetables contain almost no calories, so eat lots of veggies for lunch/dinner. Also, using smaller plates and bowls will trick your mind. Buy low fat milk and butter, things that you can save calories on, you should. Don't be too hard on yourself, pick one day every week when you can have the dinner of your choice. Oh, and make sure you always have a lot of healthy food options in your pantry/fridge/..., that way you won't get tempted to eat a bag of crisps when you're hungry or bored. And when you're shopping and feel like you really have the urge to buy a snack, treat yourself to some magazines/bath products/toys/... instead. Good luck!

  29. Hey Louise,

Low fat rice cakes are really good to eat as they have about 25 callories in. Make sure you dont get the ones with caramell on!!!
And a thing not to eat... You may think that Dates that come out of a packet are good for you but because they've been dryed they are for some reason not healty!!! hope this helps!!!

  38. Louise you are beautiful just as you are without needing to loose any weight! However if you did want to make a few not-drastic changes my sister dropped 4 dress sizes by cutting out junk food/ bad snack food, walking whenever possible and eating more fruit and veg! (I took longer but has lasted) Hope this helps (altho its pretty flipping obvious haha) i also want to loose a bit of weight this year so will be trying to stick to these steps too!x

  39. Good Luck with all your goals and I hope you achieve them all!!!! Happy New Year to you and your family!!!!xxxx

  40. Those are great goals :) I lost 100lbs 3 years ago and am working toward getting the last 30lbs off (it was 15lbs butttttt the holidays have not been kind...or have been too kind, maybe). It is hard work but it's so rewarding and there's something nice about watching your body change as a direct result of the work you are putting in.

  41. Aloha Louise-io!!!
    OOOh those waffles look good...
If this helps, I'll be glad :)
If you want to lose weight and try to muscle up your stomach, you don't have to do 100 sit-ups a day. Thanks to this wonderful fact : 30 seconds of plank are the same as doing 1000 sit-ups!!! because whilst doing the plank, almost all your body muscles are engaged, whereas sit-ups only require stomach strength. Happy New Year to Baby Glitter, Matt and you of course!!!! xxx

  45. I would suggest Zumba...its relatively easy...very funny, and brightens your mood either with endorphins or the fact that you've been laughing at yourself for half an hour...you can get great stay at home kits from amazon and such like, so no need to embarrass yourself in front of people *cringe*...and its SUPER effective...I went from a size 12-14 to a size 10-12 in a couple of weeks from eating a little bit less (but still enjoying the occasional glass of coke, or dreaded carbs :s) and doing zumba every day for 20-30 mins! I hope this helped, and just keep it up, don't lose faith, because it will happen for you if you stay committed Good luck and god bless the glitter household in 2012!!!!!!!!! xxx

  49. Try myfitnesspal.com! (also an app called My Fitness Pal) It's a fantastic calorie and exercise tracker that has a HUGE database of food (no need to enter in nutrition information) from Canada, US and the UK. They say you can lose double the weight if you simply track what you are eating (and mentally doesn't count, haha) and this app helps with that!
