Being Happy

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I uploaded my most recent video, Being Happy, yesterday and have been bowled over by the response.

I had thought it might be quite nice to make a video with a few tips and tricks on how to be a bit more cheery and see the good in your life and would never have described it as 'inspiring' or anything of that ilk but once again, you Sprinklerinos have made my day. I have had sooo many comments, emails, tweets and texts saying you really enjoyed it and that you were going to take some of it on board that I felt I wanted to share it here.

You may have already seen it or maybe prefer to just stick to reading blogs, and that's OK too. I'm easy like Sunday Morning.

If you have any little tips and tricks to being happy, leave them in the comments on this blog post and we can all enjoy them and maybe be a little happier for it.

Happypip!

xx

  1. I watched this yesterday and I thought it was such a lovely video, you really highlighted the small things that we should appreciate more in life well :) when I was watching it I was just thinking ahhhh she's so right, the part about sleeping in a nice warm bed with a clean duvet made me really sad to think that plenty of people don't have that luxury and I sure slept really well last night and appreciated it even more x

  3. This is very good :) as a Health Psychologist I know from research that these little tips indeed make people happy!! To be more in the present is important!!

But a lot of people do not know how to be more content in life. They need to learn to slowly change their negative mood/thoughts by changing their underlying beliefs.
I did a blogpost on it. If you would like to read it and will do more posts on how to learn to accept yourself (if you don't) etc.

  4. I must say this video really couldn't have come at a better time! This video really is inspirational, and I'm positive it's helped many Sprinklerinos, including myself. So thank you! I know you've already said it, but it really is the little things that can make your day or just simply cheer you up.

  7. I, like most teenage girls, lack a bucket full of self confidence. I often find myself looking in the bathroom mirror and just picking out all the worst bits. However, after several years of this, I've managed to teach myself (it's now automatic) to just counteract each bad thing with something positive. "My legs look dreadful today... But, you know what, my hair looks freaking awesome!"

  8. such a beautiful video. I have problems being angry and holding on to my anger and this just made me so happy. watching your videos makes me want to be a better person. the fact you can do that without even personally knowing me (and all the other ppl you inspire) is truly incredible. Keep up the amazing work!

  9. Hi hun, your video really came at the right time for me! I'm going through a particularly sh*tty time of it at the minute. My uncle's just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we've already lost my aunty and granddad to cancer (his sister and dad). I'm finding it tough to get out of the slump this news has put me in but after seeing your video I'll try to appreciate what I've got (my boyfriend, stepson and moggy as well as a really close family who will all help each other through the times to come, a decent job and a warm, cosy house). Thanks for putting your ideas into a video and hopefully it'll help others too :) x x

  10. I watched this soon after getting up for breakfast this morning and it was a really cheery and inspiring start to my day! It really makes me happy to see people like you not only carrying on with a positive attitude, but also using your influence to spread the happy onto others as well.

On another note, I absolutely love the colour of Baby Glitter's room and the flower lining to the left of you in the video! Would love a more detailed video of that or maybe a DIY? Cheers :)

  11. i watched it and it gave me a final push into writing a post i had been toying with for a little while about being affected by cancer and just basicly creating my own little space to let people have a place to talk, to try and help people going through the same thing. All the points you made in this video a very helpfull as some ive had to do myself so you deffently gave some great advice :) x

  12. Haha the ending made me smile, it was like you were talking to me from beyond the video! Thanks for sharing your positivity tricks, I too try to be a happy person but sometimes it can be difficult. Another of my favourite things to think is, if I'm scared or nervous about something, 'what's the worst that could happen?'. Because we are so fortunate, the answer is never "someone will be hurt, I will end up homeless" etc etc. It's all about perspective :) Cx

  13. I love all of your videos but this is definitely one of my favourites! You really do show the importance of making the best out of situations and your life generally. I also like how you don't pretend that people can be happy all of the time. Such a lovely video :)

  21. I had to come back and watch it again because of how relevant it is to the news from Colorado, very appropriate and heart warming at a time like this when there are so many people in pain right at this very second from what has happened. I just published a small blog post about it and mentioned that i'm telling all of my loved ones how much i love them today because the news reminded me of your blog post and appreciating all of the small things - thanks once again louise x

  26. Hello,
I really appreciated this. It must take a lot to put all that happened to you out there in the world. I think it will really help people.
I love your blog and I am an old crone compared to you. I am 37 and feel sometimes that I am repeating the same mistakes, carrying anger and not doing enough to make me happy. So this actually helped me in a practical sense. I can be a negative Nora and I think it is really inspiring to hear what you have been through and still remained so positive.
I can't understand how someone could be so horrible to a little girl who lost her Mummy. It is heartbreaking and so utterly sad. I am so glad you are happy now.
Life has thrown so much at you, but you just seem so genuine and lovely. Baby Glitter has a great Mummy. You are a properly lovely person. It really shines through. Hugs to you. You deserve every success.

  28. I watched this yesterday having clicked on your YouTube channel entirely by coincidence and it really struck a chord with me! I'm really going to take on some of your tips to cheer myself up a little, and I started a Pinterest board with some ideas of happy living too. I've had mental health problems for a few years now and it's so easy to feel down about things in life which, in the long run, really aren't that serious. My dad often tells me to remember that in the course of your life, one day really is only one day, and is such a small part of your life that it's not worth getting upset about, and that along with your idea of not getting angry is a really good mantra. I'm so sorry you've been through such heartbreak in your life, but you have such a fantastic outlook on life and I think you're such an inspiration! When I first found your blog I went back through a lot of your posts, and your lovely personality really shines through :) I absolutely love you, and Baby Glitter, and your blog and wish you every happiness! :) xxx

I'm 38 going through divorce and suffering just a tad of anger. But this made me smile. You should be v proud of yourself. Xx

  32. The ending of this video really made me laugh. I have to agree, a lot of the time you can't see the wood for the trees. it IS the small things in life that make you happy. I love spending a rainy afternoon with my littlest watching Peppa Pig cuddled on the sofa. Cups of tea in the garden. Cake while the baby is napping and you don't have to hide in the corner of the kitchen so they don't see you eating.

A positive spin on life stops you becoming bitter!

A lovely lovely video. You deserve your happiness x

  41. You are really sweet, and have inspired me on so many levels! Beeig nice to people is really important, and sometime I just forget, but watching your videos make me remember:) Also, you kinda remind me of Cinderella. Not in a cheesy way, but like in a sweet way! Life isnt always great, but like Cinderella you choose to treat people nice despite all you have gone through. Haha, that seems dum but i hope you understand:) And I hope you never stop blogg/vlogging :-)

  42. This really helped me. I was going through a bit of a rough patch, still am really, but this video helped me to feel positive about it all. Also, what you said about your mum really helped. My mum died when I was 14 and everything you said made me realise I need to respect what happened, not dwell on it. Thank you. x

  43. Lovely, lovely video - just shows you that sometimes it IS okay to be down, life's not a bed of roses however there ARE ways to pick yourself up & dust yourself down. Especially appreciated the topic upon your Mum & dealing with death, maybe it is better to just respect what happened and not keep looking over your shoulder at it.

This video should be spread about the world forever to give everyone the 'warm fuzzy feeling' you frequently mention! :)

I just dislocated my knee a few days ago and was feeling really down about it because it means i have to be on crutches for the next few weeks and can't do some of the things ive had planned for weeks! Its always the worst part of an injury :( but i will try and think more positivley about it and try and make the best of it and thing of ways to speed up my recovery :) thanks louise! you have no idea how much this helped me :)
