Dare To Be Different

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Dress || H&M. Cardi || Primark. Slingbacks || Miss Selfridge. Bag || Zara

Since I was a young teen, I've worn glasses.  I like to alternate between contacts and glasses and have about 3 (haha excessive much?) prescription pairs to match to my outfits. When SpecSavers contacted me and asked if I wanted to be involved in their new Osiris campaign, I was really interested to learn more about the range.

Sprinkle of glitter glasses

With over 60 frames to choose from in an array of colours, patterns and sizes, there is definitely going to be something in the Osiris Collection that suits you.

When selecting my pairs (I was sent lenless frames to style and play with), I opted for bold colours and larger frames to balance my face and vibrant hair out. I think the key to choosing frames is to first select a size and shape that suits you and then stick to those guidelines. Much like choosing a dress, if you know what cut flatters your figure, the task is much less daunting and you have more chance of finding the perfect fit.

To go with my slightly cat-eyed shaped frames I opted for a 1950's style dress, a pastel (oh pastels, why are you so brilliant?) cardi and to give the whole ensemble a little bit of an edge and compliment the frames, black slingbacks and city bag. I travelled down to London in this (including the lensless glasses!) and felt very ladylike. I have also worn these frames with jeans and tomboy chic sweater tops so they are seriously versatile.

I love how all the frames accentuate rather than hide my eyes (a common misconception about glasses) and allow me to still feel confident and attractive. Geek is the new chic after all!

I want women (and men) to never feel like wearing glasses is a set back or something 'bad' about their appearance. My Mum used to insist on taking her glasses off before she had her photo taken! I would love glasses wearers to feel excited about the options they have available to them and the styling possibilities that they create.

Search for #Osiris to vote for my look as the best! And don’t forget, you can win the whole look including the glasses on the Specsavers Facebook page.

The 2013 Osiris eyewear collection by Jørgen Simonsen is only available at Specsavers and is included in their 2 for 1 offer where two complete pairs are available for £125.

What do you think? Are LBF (little black frames) the new LBD's? I love being a speccy!

Toodlepip!

Keep your eyes peeled (see what I did there?!) for a lot more on this blog in the very near future!!

xx

Went for the colourful pink bench frames but the one you have on have made me dislike them a bit. Might need a trip to SpecSavers in the near future.

    Thanks for sharing. x.

  12. Just checked out other colour options, and I love the style of the Osiris line! The black ones with the red inner frame reminds me of a certain high end shoe company :] The dark navy ones too are lovely! I wear glasses but I too switch between them and contacts, and I find that some outfits look better wearing glasses and others look better with contacts. Oooh the options!
I love how you matched the dark frames with a pastel coloured outfit, it looks really lovely! Might have to try that sometime!

  14. I really like you, but this post annoys me. You write you "want women (and men) to never feel like wearing glasses is a set back or something 'bad' about their appearance". But how funny, i never saw YOU in glasses before. Never in a video or on a photo. I was actually surprised that you need glasses. So if you say something like 'dont be ashamed to wear glasses", you also should act accordingly! And not only for advertising!! This is a hypocrisy. Im dissapointed.

    1. Hey Anett.

Thank you for your feedback and I can understand the point you are making. However, I think you should be sure that you are entirely correct before you throw around your opinion.

I have worn my glasses in many vlogs, photos and to events. I suggest that if you want to be valid in your annoyed feelings that you go and watch every video I have ever made and look at every photo anyone has ever uploaded to the internet of me.

Yep, that just got sassy. x

    2. you're wrong she does wear them in some vlogs!

    3. That would mean no one could ever give an opinion about something, cause its not possible to know everything about a person or a thing...
But of course its allowed to share an opinion also by not knowing entirely everything. And this was just mine. And i checked again your main channel videos till 2011, there is no spot of glasses. So why? When you would really stand behind your message, then why are you not showing it to many people in public on your main channel? This is what i mean. And (@roy assink) i dont mean wearing glasses at home, right after waking up, with no make up on and not ready for the day. Sorry this is not a proof and doesnt support her message..i do wear glasses and i love it, but i dont like it, when people say they are not ashamed of wearing them and love them, but then they hardly do it..
Anyway, lets see if you will wear in the future more often glasses, probably only for an tutorial "make up for glasses" and then with the glasses from this company to continue making promo for them. Well yeah, thats okay, but i dont like it and that was what i wanted to say

    5. so are people only allowed to post positive opinions on here then ? honestly not the reaction i was expecting from louise !

    6. I agree with, Anett. Sorry, Louise. I like you a lot and, I respect you, but Anett does have a point. I know you wear glasses, but I think that kind of statement about not feeling embarrassed about glasses would hold more weight if you were one to wear your glasses almost all the time. Yes, I know we don't know what happens all the time in your life, but in my opinion, typically in your vlogs and blogs you do not wear glasses that often.

    7. She's a beauty/fashion/life-style blogger/v-logger.... she wears different styles all the time, according to how she feels/what she wants to wear, and she's worn glasses plenty often. Way to be judgy... don't get your panties in a bunch. geez -- and nobody was saying you could only post 'positive' posts on here, but if you are going to accuse someone of something, you should at least have your information right....and be able to back-up what you're saying.

To be honest I've always been one of those people, like your mum who won't let someone take a picture of me if I have my glasses on and I only wear them around my house and in school, I just really don't think they suit me but I've ordered two new pairs and I'm excited to get them because I quite like them! I too wear glasses but only for reading and when my eyes get tired from the laptop or tv. I don't like how I look with glasses very much, I'm not sure will that ever change but hopefully one day it will. I think I've always had it in my head that people look better without glasses that on one will notice you while wearing them. I will try to wear mine more and stop trying to hide, dare to be different 'n'all :)It's time for change.

I do have to say that I enjoy yours a bit more than the others. ;) I think it's because you actually wear glasses and embrace them as more than an obstacle on your face because your eyes suck. 74. Thank you for making this post Louise (even if it is for a comp!)! I've worn glasses since I was like 9 or something and have only just started to feel comfortable wearing them a few years ago (I'm 19 now). Whenever I took my glasses of to go swimming or play contact sport, people would comment how pretty I was, but when I wore glasses there was a dramatic decrease of compliments...made me start to think that I couldn't be pretty if I wore glasses. No models wore glasses, no celebrities, no classically "beautiful" people.
However, I'm totally happy with the way I am now, and only wear my contacts in summer really. I hate to think that a lot of younger girls (and guys!) feel like they are less attractive with their specs. So its great that someone in the public eye can step up and say this!
Sorry this was a long post. Just wanted to explain what I was thinking :)xx

  75. I wear reading glasses, and wish I needed them all the time. I know they'd be all the time glasses because I don't see me ever being able to put in contacts. I also find glasses incredibly attractive. My husband tried contacts for a while and aside from it freaking me out when he drove (He can't see the big E on chart) he just looked really odd to me. Now he's back to glasses and the current pair he has are amazing. They're blue Ted Baker glasses.

I've been wearing glasses for almost ten years now and I was so uncomfortable with them in the beginning which increased when I got contacts but I couldn't be bothered to wear them every day, especially when I'm staying at home and learned to love my glasses. They just change the face so much and not the worse, it's just different.
I love them now as much as I love my contacts. No one should be ashamed to have to wear them. Actually most people do have eye problems but aren't selfconfident enough to admit it.

Some sort of corset is really a clothe worn to hold in addition to condition the particular upper body into a preferred condition regarding cosmetic or even medical functions (either through using this particular item, or even having a much more long-term effect). Both ladies and men are seen to wear corsets, however females are definitely more common wearers. Want to be the most charming female using alluring system brand?
