John Lewis Christmas TV Advert


Aloha Sprinklerinos,

As you well know, I am an absolute fiend for festivities and one of the highlights of the Christmas season is seeing the John Lewis advert come on TV each year. That snowman one in 2012? Yeah, I cried. Don't judge me.

I have just found the 2013 one on YouTube and HAD to share.

    I work for John Lewis, there was a big excitement showing the new xmas advert, our store FB page went mental off people posting. I think it cute but not a tear jerker - i prefer the snowman one. xx

    Oh no I think I'm putting off seeing this coz I know I'll bawl! The one the other year made me cry too with the little boy excited to give him mum and dad a gift. Omg I'm crying just thinking of it! Why, John Lewis?!

    It's Christmas when I see the streets fill with Christmas lights and decorations!! Unfortunately, we don't get any seasons where I'm living at the moment, so the lights and decorations are my sign that Christmas is definitely here!     I always love the John Lewis Christmas ads. Last year, I had to study the John Lewis ad for my Media Studies A-Level and even though I must have watched it around 30+ times, I never got sick of it. It's Christmas ads that make me feel Christmas-y too but the Coca Cola Christmas ads are what really make it feel like Christmas for me!

    How do they make such perfect Christmas ads every year? This is so cute!
    My "It's christmas when" moments would definitely have to be the first showings of the Coca-cola and John Lewis adverts, the country-tour of the coca-cola van, and the first Christmas card through the letterbox- they all bring that warm fuzzy Christmas feeling with them!

    that is amazing!!! my " it's christmas time " is when in shops are christmas lights and things like that
    but also... sedond time is when on TV started advertistment on our " COLA " and there is a little girl with her daddy and he is saying to her : " you must to wait and you will see a gold pig! " :)

    I absolutely love all the John Lewis adverts, Christmas can't begin until I see that one and the Coca Cola one! My Christmas definitely begins when I see all the lights go up everywhere and when you can go into Starbucks and get the Christmas flavours and cups, I always have to stop on my Christmas shopping trips to get a Starbucks Christmassy treat :-)

    That commercial is spectacular! We don't really have companies going all out for Christmas here, such a shame now that I've seen that!

    My moment is when the lights start going up in the street (which is usually pretty late here) and everything just instantly looks 10 times cosier!

    Brilliant. Got to love JL Christmas ads. My favourite was the little boy who couldn't wait to give his mam and dad their gift, he reminded me of my son (and not just because they had the same pj's) the accompanying music is always so heartwarming too. Thanks for posting.

    I'm terrible with my 'it's Christmas when' moment. Mines is when the Christmas drinks are back in Starbucks, so really it's Christmas now. But I also consider it Christmas when the Irn Bru advert is on TV. Most people say it about the Coca Cola advert, but for me and my Mum especially, it's the Irn Bru advert.

    I don't have an 'it's Christmas when' moment specifically, but it definitely happened this week when I saw the German Christmas market had arrived in Bristol and we stopped for gingerbread and hot chocolate :D

    How on earth did I just cry to that. I'm such a wally.

    I used to live in Japan, and it meant that I didn't have Christmas for a few years since they don't really do it over there. It was my lowest time ever each year, but I live in Germany now and everything is SO VERY CHRISTMAS so I guess it makes up for it!

    i'm already in such christmas spirit since mid october. i think it started off with tea. i bought winter tea in october . then came the mandarins, bought myself a christmas calendar already, went to london this weekend shopping, bought christmas socks and gloves from primark. but usually the christmas moment is when snow comes (i live in estonia, where we get a lot of snow during winter)
    i'm actually studying abroad and flying home 23december evening, so i think christmas this year will be more meaningful and amazing than any other past years. i look forward to spending time with my family and friends more than usual. i think that's why i got the spirit so early this year. :)

    In New Zealand we have an advert that comes on each year and when I see it I know it is Christmas time. The advert is for Beaurepairs which is a company that sells car tires. The guy comes on all rugged up in a jacket and scarf and sings Winter Wonderland in the snow with birds around him. Thing is, it is summer here now and boiling hot which makes it a funny advert but boy that man can sing! It hasn't come on yet so technically it's not Christmas time ;)

    since I live in the states, I'm supposed to say after Thanksgiving, but honestly it's when the stores get all the Christmasy smelling things in. Right now my entire house smells of Cinnamon and I'm heartbroken there's no snow out my window. So ready for Chirstmas planning and shopping and wrapping.

    I didn't like the snowman one, 2011's one was much better, with the little boy waiting to give his parents a present!! If I feel like a good cry I go back and watch them all again. The sounds much worse written down haha!

    These JL holiday commercials are always so emotional.. since the 2010 commercial where Ellie G. sang.. I haven't missed one. They are so sweet & put you in the holiday spirit. I live in the US.. & I believe the closest thing we have to an emotional start of the season kind of commercial are the Coca Cola one's.. with all the cute little polar bears. Merry almost Christmas!

    It's good, but not as good as last years, that was just perfection :) My 'it's christmas' moment, used to be when I saw the coca-cola advert, but I always feel more christmassy when it starts to get colder and we get frosty mornings and such :)

    I love this advert. I had to make my mum pause the TV and search it on YouTube. It's the one Christmas advert that gets better every year. My 'it's Christmas when' moment is definitely when I hear my boyfriend and his family get VERY excited over the Coca Cola advert. I don't even have to be in the room to know that its on. You have to love how happy Christmas makes people :)
