Motivational Monday || Magic

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Did you have a good weekend? I hope that if you did, the positivity has carried through into the start of a new week.

I chose this one today because it seems to fit nicely with a couple big things I have been thinking about a lot lately, the first being God and the second being Disney World.

I know, an odd mix but still with something in common. Both God and Disney put a great focus on belief. To be clear to anyone wondering, I am not bunching to two together and show both topic the appropriate respect in my thoughts, it's just hard to always convey that via text and screens.

As a Christian, I have a strong belief that there is a God and he is the Father of Jesus and he holds our lives in his hands and is there to guide, love, support and teach us. The majority of my friends are not Christians (or any other religion) and so many times I have found myself in conversations where I am put to the test, don't have the answers and simply respond with, 'because I believe it'. It's hard to explain how or why I believe in God but sometimes I say this-

"When Darcy couldn't talk and was a little baby, I knew in my heart that she loved me. She didn't say it outloud and she didn't do anything grand to show me, but I had such belief that she did, that I knew. That's how I feel about God. I just believe it so deeply that I know."

Believing in God brings me more peace than I could ever write in a blogpost. I am not scared of my life or of the future and I am not scared of what comes after. Sure, I fret and worry about the little things, but when I really think on it, I remember that my life is just part of God's plan and all I need to do is follow that and I'll be fine. A lot of people may think this is stupid but I don't feel embarrassed or ashamed, I feel soothed.

And now Disney. Walt Disney World is my favourite place on earth. I'm the kind of woman who cries at the parades, skips down Main Street and almost floats through the day because to me, it's all just so magical. I believe in the magic. Yes, you could argue that it is all carefully designed to make you feel that way, but I'm fine with that. You wanna design a place that is a delight to be in, smells incredible, looks fantastic, sounds amazing and is made purely to please, go right ahead, I'm happy to be a part of that. Rather than questioning the mechanics of the operation, I am glad to look upon it as magic and enjoy every moment I can.

The point I am making is this- If you want to pick apart every single thing to see how it works or to question why or to know every little detail, sure, go ahead. Sometimes though (and not for everything but just some special things), don't. Sometimes when you don't look for it, it's just there, waiting to be enjoyed or loved or soothed by. Let yourself go with something and enjoy the magic of it. It's really, really nice.

Next time you feel like something lovely is happening and you want to enjoy it, just enjoy it. Choosing to believe in something does not make you dumb or weak, it shows strength that you can allow yourself to do that and have the faith to be able to.

Toodlepip!

xx

(Disclaimer - I know religion is a sensitive topic and I always worry that my opinions are in some way offensive. Please don't pick me apart (haha kinda the lesson of the day) or be mean about them, I won't respond or engage. I'm not saying God is 'magic', I'm saying more that he is 'miraculous'. Cool <3 font="">

  1. Such a beautiful post, Louise. Even though I am an atheist, I can really respect your belief in God, especially when you describe it the way that you do. I can't wait to see all of your Disney footage and pictures, there is something just so special about that place. It must be a great feeling to take your child and watch them feeling all the magic that it brings! x

  3. I don't believe in God (but as Olivia said - I agree with her and I too respect your beliefs). I do believe in magic though lol (I mean I'm not afraid to admit - I'm 24 and still act like a little kid and believe magic exists). I really want to go to Disney as well ... maybe next year :) xx

  5. I totally respect your beliefs in God. I am an atheist as well, but I understand and think religion is good for a lot of people. For me Disney's magic gets even more amazing when I see glimpses of how it works because I get to stand in awe of the detail and thought put into it. I like the quote, its Road Dahl right? I don't know if its true or not because I try to go unbiased and find the truth, but I think for some things its true... thoughts?

  6. Despite being an atheist I can see exactly where you are coming from in this post and I really enjoyed reading it. People just need to learn to embrace things in life and appreciate what they have.

  7. I myself am not a believer and my thoughts on religion are actually very anti-religious. I do however, believe that each individual has the choice and free-will to believe in anything that they want and anything that makes them a stronger person. We need to all stand up and raise our voices to what we believe, what makes us individuals and what makes us tick! I think it was Voltaire once said: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

    Well done honey bunch!!

Although I'm not religious to the same extent as you are I do still like to believe that there is someone who is looking out for us. That being said I still highly respect your views towards God and think its so refreshing to see someone so honest and open about their beliefs.
And as for Disney World I whole heartedly understand where you're coming from! I've visited Disney World 6 times and I'm going again this October. I truly believe that until you have experienced the magic and happiness that Disney brings its very difficult to be put into words.

I feel like when a group, blogger or artist becomes known for a certain type of work (ex., a beauty blogger is known for her reviews on beauty products etc.), they might feel a little hesitant about addressing their religion (if they belong to one). I think it's awesome that you just went right out and did it. :]

Lovely how you described your belief and very heart warming. It´s great that you allways have something that helps you through any troubles.

Oh and I strongly agree with everything you say about Disney and its magic

  41. This is a lovely, lovely post and I completely agree with you Louise. I too have been challenged by people regarding my faith in God, which I've found very frustrating, not only as I would never question anyone else's beliefs, but also as I don't have the evidence or proof that they apparently need, but I really like how you tackle that - I'll be using that advice in the future definitely. And Disney... well, who doesn't love Disney?! :) Wendy xx

  56. This is such a beautiful post. I don't believe in any religion. But that is partly because of my family. My parents divorced, and my mum ended up believing in Buddhism and my dad turned into a Christian. I was having a very very hard time before, trying to go to church with my dad and also go to temples with my mum. So at the end, I decided not to believe in anything. I chose to believe in my parents. As long as they are happy, I am happy. Anyway, love your post Lou.

  72. This is my very first time to comment - I just couldn't help myself! :) I started to write in my journal yesterday about this very topic, though I ended up not finishing it because I couldn't find the right words. Faith is also a big part of my life, but I am very respectful of those who have different faiths or are atheists. Some of my best friends are non-believers or come from different faiths, and they are all awesome people, who I am incredibly proud to know.

That being said, I often find myself "attacked" by others for my faith, and have a hard time defending myself. How can I explain the 'why's' when there is no clear answer? I don't know why....I just know it's as much a part of as my hands, my feet, my eyes...and that the years I closed myself off to my faith were my loneliest, most empty years. I do try not to get upset at the questioning, but when I'm by myself later, I can't help but feel hurt that the people I respect regardless of their faith, or who claim to be so open-minded, are in fact, the closed-minded ones. To be clear, this does not go for the great, caring people I know are out there...but those who try to ridicule me in a way I would never ridicule others. It all just makes me sad...sigh. Anyway, I don't know where this is going, lol. But thanks for opening up the discussion!

  73. This is such a beautiful post, Louise. I believe in magic of the world, I know that there are so many things in life which we can't explain and whether that's God's job or pure magic, it's amazing. I've never been to Disney world and I'm 21 but I'm still hoping one day I'll get the chance and I'm pretty sure I will be completely blown away by the amount of magic floating around there :)

I'm too shy for my own good, and there is such a strong movement at the moment to make Christians feel like they are retarded or stupid for believing that I don't feel comfortable 'outing' myself in real-life.

  81. Louise I absolutely couldn't agree more about the need to believe in magic, and about the awesomeness of Disney World!! I actually call it one of my Soul Inspirations:

"Watching Fantasmic [fireworks display at Disney Hollywood Studios] always brought a tear to my eye. In that moment I forgive myself for losing or abandoning myself for the pursuit of rent money. I long for a little more happiness and magic. And I start to believe again that it might just be possible".

  83. Oh, this is so wonderful to read. As a Christian myself, it fills my heart with joy to hear other Christians speak of their faith. You expressed it perfectly! I know that when I am afraid or worrying about something, that I am able to pass that sadness and fear to God.
There is a brilliant worship song I recommend you listening to called You Never Let Go by Matt Redman.
    The lyrics are;
'And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
    Whom then shall I fear?
    Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me'

There is also a song called Our God by Chris Tomlin which calms me when my anxiety flares up

    One of the verses is as follows;
'And if our God is for us
Then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us
    Then what could stand against'

Have you ever heard something quite so blooming marvellous?

  85. Man... I wrote such a long post, and it didn't go through :/
In short, I wanted to say how amazing it is that you put your views of God out there. I actually started a blog myself, and it was supposed to be on beauty and such, but I had such a huge calling to do it on my life as a disciple and my relationship with God, and so I did. However, as I continued posting, I felt a little insecure about it. BUT, after reading your post, you reassured me and made me feel a little more comfortable to keep doing what I'm doing. Look at you, a famous blogger and YouTuber who isn't afraid to talk about God! So thank you for that.

On the other hand, I wanted to thank you for what you said about Darcy and how you knew she loved you. What an amazing description of how we know that God loves us. My gosh, reading it I was like "Whoa, she's so right" I will for sure keep that in mind for anytime I'm put on the spot and asked about why I love God so much and such.

    Thanks for being you! :D

  86. Kudos to you for putting your views out there. Lately there seems to have been a major attack on the Christian religion and many Christians always feel they have to censor what they say around certain people, as at times revealing your religious viewpoint can have neative consequences. Keep doing you darling, hope the liitle munchkin is doing well :)

  88. Absolutely love this, Louise! I'm also a Christian and sometimes often find myself censoring what I say around others for fear of being judged, which I know isn't how it should be - it's so lovely and really encouraging to see someone else openly talk about it all :) xxx

  90. Love this, so positive and warm :) I remember when the second time I went to Disney I was so excited to be going back to the most magical place I'd been to as a child! I agree that we should just enjoy things without questioning them and asking why they're there...just love life and have have fun. And believe what you want to believe!

  92. Wonderful Post Louise! As a Christian myself it is refreshing to see that even in the "spotlight" you have remained bold and tenacious in your faith. Keep it up! I encourage you to continue being a light in the dark, know that you are infinitely loved more than the stars, and that you have the full and complete authority of Christ with each step you carry. Thank you for this, reading you heart was a wonderful part of my day.

Since then I've stopped watching a lot of channels, but yours Louise I come back to without fail. Your blog is even more wonderful. Your positivity, warmth and enthusiasm is just so infectious! I finally got over my hesitations and started a blog myself :)

  101. This is such a good post, I found it soothing in itself. I'm not religious, however I'm open to the idea of a God being there, but I think we all take different amounts of time to realise how we feel about religion, and some of us never do. Also, on a lighter note- Disney is very magical! I've recently written about one of my favourite childhood memories in an award/tag post, and I mentioned Disneyland! Everyone must go there at least once in their life! Louise, I think this post has been very insightful and useful to many people including myself, so thank you!

  103. This is lovely. I'm a Christian too and a couple of years ago someone told me that faith is a choice, which really helped me. Sometimes you just have to choose to believe and trust even when you don't see the big picture, because what's important is that He does :)

  104. I'm not a Christian but I am an RE teacher in a secondary school and I have to teach about the six main world faiths. When I talk about religion I am often faced with the teens saying it is rubbish and how can people believe in something they can't see? And I always refer back to love. We can't see love. But we know when we are loved. We know when we love. And that is kinda like God. If your feeling is there it does not matter that you can't touch him or see him. It's innate isn't it? And I am off to EuroDisney in half term with all of my family and my preschooler and toddler boy. I can't wait! There is something so magic about it. The fact that they believe. When Anna and Elsa are in front of them? They really believe. And it makes me believe too. Hope you have a wonderful time and I will look forward to watching it x

    2. That's super sweet, and I love the way that you respond to the teenagers. I'm in high school right now and I feel as if most of my peers are either atheists or don't talk about their religion because they are around atheists, and it's hard. Sometimes I find myself explaining my belief with the simple reason: because I'm scared not to have anything to believe in, and it's sad, because that's not the truth. I believe in G-d because I do, because I know that he's there and that he's good and for no other reason. I don't really follow any specific branch of religion, but I do believe in having faith. It becomes difficult to explain it to people sometimes though.

  107. Louise, I love this post so ridiculously much! I, too, am a Christian, and the biggest Disney fan! I worked at Walt Disney World, and agree with your sentiments! I have teared up watching the castle show because it reminded me that even though life is crap sometimes, to have faith, and believe in the possibility of a happy ending. While being a cast member, it was my job to create magic for guests, and I love that you feel it! I believe in and celebrate magic so much now, it is powerful! I know that it can be concerning to other Christian friends of mine that I put Disney in such a high place of my life, but I don't let it compete for top priority, no worries! I just love that you so eloquently wrote what I wholeheartedly believe and take heart in. Thank you!

  111. Thank you Louise for this post, it's really well written and I think your thoughts on the issue come across really well. Ever since I got married I've been thinking a lot more about God and religion, I was wondering what Matt thinks about it, if he has the same beliefs or not, does he just support you in your beliefs?

  112. This is so lovely, and you're so right, it's easy to spoil things by over-analysing. Much better to just enjoy them for what they are and how they make you feel! I've seen quite a few of your videos on YouTube but only just discovered your blog today, I will definitely be reading regularly and looking forward to more "Motivational Monday" posts :)

I agree that it is hard to explain your faith to non religious people and I just want to give you some encouragement! Just keep smiling and being your gracious self. Don't lose your faith! Your friends will see the light in you and be blessed by it. I also agree with everything you said about Disney! I love all the little magical details! I am also a cryer! 121. Life without love is not a life but an existence in pain and penury. I am using this medium to let the world know of Dr Zadson a true spell caster that gave me results in just 3 days. I know that most of this spell casters online are not able to cast powerful spell, they only charge extravagant and yet dont deliver beacuse i tried several of them before i met Dr Zadson and he brought the love that i desire to my life. Today i live a very happy life with my spouse and am grateful to him. If you need love in your life or the help of a real spell caster contact him on his email eduduzadsontemple@yahoo.com or call his number +2347050269626 .
