How To :: Colour Glass Jars

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Remember back in the olden days when I was Mrs Loved To Craft? Well, the other day she was back! back with a painty-inspired-by-pinterest venom!

How To Colour Glass Jars

Now, before all you DIY goddesses throw down your PVA in anger, yes, I know there is more than one way to colour glass jars and I think all of them are lovely. This way however, is with acrylic paint and is beyond simple. I like simple.

How to colour glass jars

Gather your clean, dry glass jars.

Generously pour acrylic paint (I bought mine from Hobbycraft) into the bottom and if you can, round the edges INSIDE.

Roll/twist the jar about to encourage paint to coat the inside completely.

How to colour glass jars

On newspaper or a surface you're happy to ruin, leave the jars upside down to finish the inner coating and let the excess paint drain out.

How to colour glass jars

Leave to dry and add contents.

Voila!

Do you think this is something you'll try? Think of the possibilities!!

Toodlepip!

  103. This is definitely something I'll be trying and doing in future! One of my local pound shops has some gorgeous kitsch jam jars for sale, for £1 each. They have cute blue and white gingham lids and remind me of something you'd have used as a kid to keep things inside... Most likely a frog! XD

I don't have a Hobbycraft near me so I'll be looking for acrylic paint in the markets. The jars look pretty with colour inside and will look great around my room for little bits and bobs. ^_^

Can't wait to do these myself, thank you for sharing. :)

  115. Using the above I just up cycled a load of our old jars destined for the recycling bins at our local supermarket. It was so simple and easy to do even for me (though I can't deny somehow I managed to get paint on myself) and it's utterly amazing how a little bit of paint can turn what otherwise would essentially be a bit of 'rubbish' into something so pretty and useful. I went for light antique white, turquoise and ocean green which is my particular favourite, but looking forward to trying other colours. I've also decided to make my own vases using narrow necked tall bottles / jars adding some pretty 'fake' decorative flowers to give as small presents for some upcoming birthdays. As you say think of the possibilities!! Thank you for sharing Louise xox
