Aloha Sprinklerinos,
I wanted to share with you the video I made to show off Rocket and Zula's cuteness but just before I came to write this blog post- breaking news happened!
This morning we took the kittens to the vet to have them vaccinated, wormed, flee-d and checked over. Everything was running smoothly and the kittens were taking it in their stride when the vet said, 'And his testicles are in good health' about Zula! 'Errrr what? She's a girl kitten isn't she?'. NOPE! Zula is a boy!
We've decided to stick with the name 'Zula' and obviously love her just as much as before but it was quite the surprise and quite funny trying to explain the situation to Baby Glitter.
I just mentioned it on Twitter and was relieved to hear a lot of you have been in the same boat so I don't feel too bad haha! I guess now I'm the kitty mama of two baby boys!
Toodlepip!
xx
Boycats have always been more loving in my experience! Girls are independant madams! They're beautiful by the way!

Hahaha aww that's so funny, I want my own little kitten so so much, and yours are the cutest I've seen by miles!
ReplyDeletex
Boy cats are so great omg you will love Zula being a boy, they're more snuggly (yep would you believe that)? x

The same thing happened to me!! Thought my cat was a girl until we took "her" to a vet and found out that "she" was in fact a he!!

Hahaha louise that is what happened with my hamster we thought it was a boy and turned out to be a girl hahah just kept calling it a him though http://itscaitlinhere.blogspot.co.uk
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me but the other way round. We rescued two cats from the RSPCA and were told one was a girl on was a boy. Turns out they were both girls.
ReplyDeleteWill you get him neutered?
ReplyDeleteIt's totally normal! My friend's cat Angel was a girl, then a boy then a girl and not definitely a boy haha

Haha, oh well, mistakes are made aren't they? Poor Dracy, she must be so confused! x

Funny story, my brother and sister-in-law decided to care for three kittens my husband and I were trying to rescue from his granddad's farm. We thought they were all three boys. A little while later and we realize that TWO of them are pregnant?! We all thought, well, at least maybe since they're young they'll only have one or two kittens each. No. They each had five kittens!! Brother and sister-in-law got a little more than they bargained for. Haha. I guess just be glad that didn't happen. lol Congrats on your new additions, they're both super adorable!!
ReplyDeleteAwww they look so cute! I think Zula is such a cute name, definitely works for a unisex name, bless you, hope Darcy understands it :D

Haha. I can imagine baby glitters reaction. I may need to get a kitten after these posts. :)
ReplyDeleteAww he's too cute X

I think Zulu is still a great name as works for a boy too - that's rather funny though! I have heard of the same thing happen to many other people so you're not alone!

ReplyDeleteAwwww his twinkle was really a winkle ;) Cute kitties :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, the same thing happened to me when I adopted my cat a couple years ago. The friend who gave him to me thought he was a girl, so I didn't question it and named him Nina. And then I was cat-sitting for a friend who has a male cat and realized that they were the same, anatomically speaking, and it was confirmed by the vet. I thought about keeping Nina as his name but I eventually changed it though.
ReplyDeleteThe same situation happened to my family and i when i was younger. Zula is such a lovely name!
ReplyDeleteThat happened with one if my cats too we ended up having to change his name from kiara to Kiki :)

I had this happen to me about 2 years ago when I got my kitten, even the vet was calling him a her until she checked him! She also said he looked like a pretty girl kitten but turns out he's a boy! I didn't mind though because like you sai, you still love them as much!

ReplyDeleteAwww they are adorable! My bunny rabbit changed sex about 3 times before the vets finally figured out he was just a very late bloomer in the testicle department! hahaha

Ah, that does happen a lot! I remember when I got my kittens 3 years ago and we weren't sure about their sex and people were like, "How do you not know if it's a boy or a girl?"
ReplyDeleteGrr. The nerve of those people! It's hard to tell!
Anyway, I totally understand! And Zula is still the best name for him! He's a cutie! <3

ReplyDeleteHaha, I remember when my cat had kittens and we gave one to my uncle named Ruby. We later found out that it was a boy and he had to rename him Rudy. Good luck with everything, kittens are such a handful!

The same thing happened to my boyfriend, but in reverse. He found out that his cat Jake is actually a Jackie. Now he and his cousin call her both names and sometimes refer to her as a boy when they forget. :)

Haha, that's really funny! Your kittens are just the cutest, apart from my own cat, of course :)
ReplyDeleteAwww they're so cute! I think getting the gender wrong is quite common haha. xo

Wow I have never been in that situation before and I’d be so surprised if I ever was- that’s probably because I have a fluffy white cat who is the girliest looking kitty ever. I recently discovered you via youtube in the videos you’ve done with Zoella. I love watching those videos, it’s one of my favourite things to do right now. It makes me just want to jump into the screen and be your best friends too. I was also really pleased to then discover that you have a blog. There are no words to explain how much I have fallen in love with Darcy too!
ReplyDeletethey're so cute, their gender don't matter to me :) I love Zula's spots the most!

That actually happened to my sister's cat that she got as a gift from her boyfriend! We thought he was a "she" and it turned out that Roo was a rooster.. It's pretty common I think! Kittens are so fluffy.. :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.misshannahmae.com/
Haha! I think it happens a lot. We had family friends who actually took their cat to the vet to be spayed and it was only when the vet had STARTED the operation that they realised it was a boy. Awkward times.
