Lou's Reviews :: MUA Lipstick

Aloha Bloggerinos,

On hearing that Superdrug had launched a new brand called MUA (MakeUp Academy) with everything priced at £1, I thought I ought to check it out.

Whilst the eyeshadows and glitter liners looked appealing, I decided on a lipstick, since I seem to be a little obsessed with them at the moment.

Rather disappointingly, the MUA range doesn't have pretty names for its colours, and this little gem is beautifully named "Shade 7", mmmmmm appealing.

Shade 7 is a lovely coral colour with peach undertones and is surprisingly moisturising. It's lasting power is average, but for £1, you can't complain. It is fairly scentless which I like as I'm not one for strong smells unless it's shower gel or perfume, so this is a brucey bonus.

I think for a pound I'd pick up a few more cheap and cheerful lipsticks to wear under lipglosses, but it's not like the jazzy Rimmel number that I'm proud to take out of my bag!

Product- Average
Price- Wowee!!
Packaging- Poor

Have you tried any of these lippies? What did you think dear Bloggerinos?

Prestige reviews coming soon, when I've had a good go of them.

Toodlepip!

xx

  1. My local superdrug only got these in last week, I bought 2 lipsticks and a bronzer. I was quite impressed by the quality of the lipsticks considering they were only £1 I didn't think they would even show up on my lips. The bronzer I didn't get to try as it broke before I got home so it went in the bin.

I don't like the fact that they don't have names either and I don't like that the shades are on the lids. I stupidly took both lids of at the same time to swatch them and don't know what one's shade 6 and what's shade 9 now! x

  2. Oh no what a bummer!! I bet if you wrote to Superdrug they would be pleased to hear it!

I think defo yes to the lipsticks and a shame about the bronzer. For a squid though, it's not a huge loss eh!

  3. You should try the shadows, shades 9 and 12 are super pretty. 9 is like a more purple Stars and Rockets and 12 is a reddy brown with silver-green duochrome!

  4. I have 2 lipsticks a blush a mascara 8 eyeshadows and an eye dust. Phew lol. I love them all,the eyeshadows are so easy to blend and the colour stays on me for the whole day.Think i will buy all the different lipsticks and a few more eye dusts.I have both high end and low end brands and think these are fabulous.Although i do agree that they should have a more appealing name.

    Love the post xx

  14. I have one myself, and it's coral, but I don't think it's as bright. I love mine, and I would get more. As it is so cheap, I'm embarrassed to out it on in front of people, so it is one that I'd buy on my own, and put on before going out to meet friends!

  20. Hi Louise,

I have only recently discovered the joy of you tube, I stumbled across your channels & blog and fell in love with you a little bit (ok, maybe a lot!).

You're such a lovely lady with great make up & style tips and hilarious escapades.

You've inspired me to be daring and experiment with a red lip!
Lack of funds, your very informative review and luscious lips in your vids led me to the MUA shade 13. I shall be sporting it tomorrow for a night out in town (Liverpool). So just thought I'd leave you a comment to thank you for the confidence and inspiration!

Looking forward to watching more vids & reading more blogs :D
