Monday Insights #1

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Ahhhh, remember back in the olden days when we had that series called Motivational Monday? Remember how I said I had something new up my sleeve? Well today is the day I tell you all about it, ready for a brand new Monday series. I don't know why but I feel like Monday can't be random. We need something familiar to grasp onto of a Monday, to make us feel secure and safe. It's a Monday, you've got enough on your plate, you don't need willynillywhokowswhat blog posts popping up in yo- face!

Something I enjoy most about having this blog is the community that comes with it. I love our chats and I feel that each post is a conversation. Last month I asked at the bottom of THIS post if you had any questions about my trip to LA. I was flooded with inquisitive comments and wrote THIS post in response. I LOVED that process and would like to do it on a regular basis.

So, every Monday I'm going to give you a topic and then the next week I will answer those questions as absolutely honestly as I can. I will try to answer all of them (within the boundaries of good taste of course) and will try to pick topics that we'll both find interesting. I plan on running this series for 6-10 weeks. Are you excited? I am.

If you would like to be involved, in the comments, please feel free to ask any questions relating to the following topic:

WORKING FROM HOME AS A BLOGGER/VLOGGER.

I'll take questions up until Thursday night so comment away my lovely Sprinklerinos!!

Toodlepip!

xx

  2. Hello Louise!

I am recently in a part of my life where I'm not quite sure of what I want to do exactly, so I am starting out as a blogger!

So, My question for you is have you or do you ever find yourself struggling to find things to write about and post? Or does it come naturally for you?

    Hope to hear from you,
    Natasha xx.

  3. Hi Louise!
My question is how do you organise your time and stop yourself from becoming lazy. If I worked from home I'd be tempted to keep putting off tasks etc

    xx

  4. How do you keep yourself from getting distracted? It seems that if I'm working from home, I'll do ANYTHING to not do what I'm supposed to. (Granted, I'll usually do something productive, like clean or fold laundry to procrastinate, but there's only so many times I can scrub the bath before I need to answer those emails!)

Much love from the Big Apple :)

  5. I like this idra& thanks for being so available to answer questions!

I don't have a particular question but i would ask if you have any general tips for bloggers which you've learned through experience.

  7. Love this new idea Louise! I just started blogging this year and only more seriously in the last few months. I know I spend quite a bit of time at it, even with it only being a hobby at this stage for me. With Blogging/Vlogging as full-time job, how much time on average would you say you spend working during your week?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I LOVE this idea! My question for you would be - What was your "aha!" moment? Was there a day when you realized that there was something amazing that you could do to take your blog to the next level? I love the idea of having a blog, not only for a creative outlet but also as supplemental income. The perfect job! I love hearing about the personal growth of established bloggers from when they were first starting out.

I love that you put so much love and joy into your writing. You are an inspiration to keep my own blog true to myself and not simply what I think others might want to read about.

  11. Oooooer I am so excited for this! I love getting involved with you and your lovely blog. ^_^ My question is: How many hours would you say you spend a week on your job. And what do you do in your spare time?

  12. I am actually very excited for this series! I love how interactive it is(: my question is how long have you been blogging/youtubing as your job and how many subscribers or followers did you have when you started using blogging/youtubing as your source of income? And does the amount of subscribers and followers you have directly affect how much you make?

  13. I love this idea! With blogging, do you always have the majority of the posts planned ahead of you so that you know every single day (or that days you're blogging) what's being posted and when?

  22. My biggest problem is that I plan to have a full days blogging - taking pictures writing posts etc - and nothing turns out right! The lighting is bad, my post formatting wont work or I just cannot think of anything and everything in my book of blog ideas just doesn't seem very good!
How do you overcome this sort of thing? Do you just put it off for another day and do something else or do you have any tips for overcoming some of these?

I've been home a long time when I got to go to surgery so I had recovery spare time and I started doing my blog and everything but I have a question on an everyday basis home worker; Don't you miss preparing yourself in the morning, choosing your makeup your outfits and everything?

I did miss that part because I had nowhere to go when I was at home everyday, and I love to pamper myself, but I could use some days in Pj's, it's always relaxing :)

I have read (and watched) your posts on blogging, and love them, yet, I do still wonder about the details. How did you finally make that connection to people and found your blogging friends? How do you know what people like? Do you just write what you want?
Also, on another note, does it feel like your dream job has been fulfilled now? :) Hopefully YES!

I don't know where I am going wrong but I find it hard to stay motivated. SO I want to start again fresh. I want to post pictures and just reach out to the beautiful community that is out there.

  103. Hi Louise, I love reading your blog and watching your YouTube videos, you feel like a close friend who I have never met!

I just wanted to ask how you first felt telling your family and friends about your choice of career? How did people react? Even now when you meet new people, do they 'get' what you do?

I only have a teeny weeny blog which I write on for fun, but I still feel embarrassed when people I know ask me about it or bring up a blog post I wrote or even tell other people about it.

I know that a lota lota hard work has gone into your blog/YouTube channel and it's something to be immensely proud of so I hope that you don't find this question offensive as if blogging is something to be ashamed of because that is not what I mean at all!

  114. I graduate university in the fall and I've finally figured out what I want to do- it only took a few thousand dollars and 4 years, oh and it has nothing to do with my degree.
I want to be a photographer and a blogger, to be able to work from home would be the greatest thing in my opinion. For now, because it means I would have so much time to devote to all of things I want to do and make my blog and photography into something great. And in the future it might just mean being able to spend the days being a mom, which will be the greatest accomplishment in itself.
So my I guess my question is simple- how do you do it? How can you afford to do it?

I'm 19 and I've been reading your blog for a few months and I haven't been able to miss any entry since I started. (:
I've started a youtube account and blog recently and my question is:
I'm currently in Uni and I need to juggle my time in the real world and what I love doing, so I don't have that much time to do all the promotional thing/tactics to gain viewers/followers. Obviously you've got a baby and a family and I bet it's also hard to juggle the time.. How do you think I could get viewers beside trying really hard to post good contents? (because I really have tried (: )

Looking at all the comments above, maybe you won't read mine but I really hope you do, (:
Oh and I wanna thank you, just because you're amazing and you've inspired a lot of girls and myself <3

    Thank You!

  131. Hi Louise!!

This is so fabulous, and reading through all of the other questions is making me very excited to read your response post! :)
I have a question about your thoughts on the "blogging universe" in general...do you feel there is enough "room" for all of the people in the world who want to become full-time bloggers? I don't know if that makes sense, haha. I've had a blog for a while now, but it's just a small one and I've never had a big following aside from making one or two bloggy friends here and there. I've often thought about trying to make it something more, but then I think of all the famous professional bloggers I follow (and all the ones that I don't, there's SO many wonderful people out there!) and wonder if there really is room for what I have to offer. I guess I just doubt that I have anything new or different that people would read enough for me to put the effort into networking, advertising, etc - it seems like the market is full! You know? Do you have any thoughts on any of that? If not, you totally don't have to answer :)

Hope you have a lovely Monday! I'm so glad I discovered your blog recently!

I really love this post idea, and I'm really excited to see the topics you come up with in the coming weeks. I have just finished my masters (yay!) and am very interested in getting started in blogging. I'm going to blog regardless, but am so interested in the possibilities that surround making it a career.

My question (which I'm sure has been asked already in the comments) is when you began blogging were you working another job that blogging has replaced? Would you be working outside of the home if you weren't blogging or has blogging happily filled that place? I'm not currently in a relationship or anything of the sort, but part of my interest in blogging is the at home aspect. I would love to stay home with little ones if I am blessed with them.

Thank you for having such a lovely blog!

I'm curious as to if you (or a blogger or YouTuber in general) is able to get regular or reliable income? And if so, how and where does it come from?

  196. Hi Louise!

I've recently just started blogging myself so this is a fantastic opportunity to ask a more experienced blogger like yourself for some tips!
I would love to know if you have any tips on how to get your blog noticed and how to advertise your blog so more people are aware of it?
Also would you be able to write a step by step blog post on how to set up and layout a blog?
Thankyou so much for taking the time to answer these questions! :)
    xx
