Lou's Reviews || Angelica Hydration Face Mist | L'Occitane

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

What with this marvellous summer we are having *looks outside to grey clouds and whistling winds* I was glad when I was given an Angelica Hydration Face Mist to try from the lovely lady at L'Occitane.

I am quite a newbie to facial mists, the only other one I have tried was from Avene and I used it whilst in labour. To be quite frank, I was so drugged up on meptid that I could have been spritzing urine on my face and I wouldn't have cared, so I don't think that gave me a well rounded opinion of the product! The times I did use it un-drugged-on-labour-meds however, I had really liked it, so I had high hopes for the L'Occitane version.

L'Occitane themselves claim that this product 'instantly refreshes' the skin and can be used to set and prolong your makeup. Sounds good.

Wellllll I have mixed feelings on this item. Firstly, it's nice. It feels nice to spray a gentle cool mist of water over your face, it smells very fresh and clean, I didn't have any bad reactions or breakouts and I can see that it would be really handy in hot climates or on aeroplanes/coaches etc. Secondly, the packaging is pleasant and functional.

However (and here is where I feel guilty for not rav-rav-raving but I always promise to be honest), I don't really buy into it's magical  properties. I didn't feel like my makeup lasted any longer than it would have without a fine mist of special water, after I had been refreshed I felt like I needed to apply moisturiser sooner and with my current lifestyle (staying at home with the baby in a moderate climate), I felt it wasn't really needed.

I am aware that the PR lady didn't know this and if I had been taking a transatlantic flight to somewhere hot this summer I may well have shouted from the rooftops about it, so please don't think me mean. I just feel that if I hadn't been gifted this product, I would not have spent the rrp of £15 on it.

All in all, not a bad product at all, just not something someone like me really needs. Sorry L'Occitane!

Are you a fan of face mists? When do you use them most?

Toodlepip!

xx

  2. I think it's cool that you're honest! And often all the promises a product makes just ain't the truth. Not always of course. Anyway the packaging does look nice :)

Personally I'm not a user of face mists, not sure why really since I have a body mist {from Kanebo} which is quite nice actually.

Anyway, nice post as always :3

  3. I have never used face mists but they sound quite refreshing, also, 'To be quite frank, I was so drugged up on meptid that I could have been spritzing urine on my face and I wouldn't have cared' has to be the best sentence ever written on blogspot haha!

  4. Not a great lover of face mists but Loccitane do amazing hand creams! Could not recommend the shear butter enough! It smells fab and makes your hands so smooth but it's pretty pricy!! :(

  5. Despite the fact that this product isn't really necessary for everyone L'Occitane seems like a great brand and Im really looking forward in purchasing some of their products! Lovely review Louise :)

  9. I know Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic is technically a toner but I love using the spritz bottle to mist my face when I am having 'my own tropical holiday'.

  11. Hahah 'I could have been spritzing urine on my face', I think I love you. I love products like this for travelling/on holiday but it feels like a waste if I use it in lovely rainy England. x

  12. I have just bought the ultra radiance one from Benefit and have it on my desk at work - I've only been using it two days and I like it so far...and looking at myself in the car rear view mirror at the end of the day today (i know, vain!) and thought my make up looked better than it usually does!

  13. I don't normally link posts but I had one a little while back that answers the exact question you're asking!: 'Thermal Spring Water and it's Very Many Uses' http://www.cherrysuedointhedo.com/2012/05/thermal-spring-water-its-very-many-uses.html If it's a problem, absolutely take it down.

I love that you're so honest with your review, while I wouldn't pay that much for L'Occitane, the Avène version is so much cheaper, it's one product we always have in the fridge for burns, cuts etc - my youngest teen is like Evil Kenevil x

  14. I always like the idea of being cool enough to use facial mists all of the time, but I feel they are more of a novelty!

  16. Really glad you posted this review, i was tempted to purchase this but now i really dont think its really for me! Avene do something similar which is much better for the skin by the sounds of it called their thermal spring water spray. Its really hydrating and calms redness, blemishes, etc. xx

  17. I LOVE your reviews your so funny and honest and I can really trust them! I might go and test this out because I'm going to Turkey in a few weeks although for £15 it is a little pricey :/ xxx

  18. I here so much about face mists but I've never actually used one. I might buy one before I go on holiday next month. Like you said, it would be on a long flight & during a hot holiday! xx

  19. Please continue with honest reviews! I'm going to skip this one. I felt the Avene one was nothing special like soooo many people thought was. Let us know if you find a good one. I'm going to try Fresh Rose Facial Spray next. Fingers crossed.

  20. It just sounds like an over-priced "magicool" to me! Thanks for your honest reviews as always, Louise. :-)

  21. I used to have an Evian face mist. I think it would have been great on a plane, but I didn't really use it much and just ended up throwing it out.

I always think it's good to be honest in reviews, otherwise whats the point?

I might try it out for when I go on holiday, try it in a hotter climate than mizzy England!

  23. Thanks for the honest review Louise. Personally I would rather spend my £15 on something else as this seems a bit pricey for what it is and does! But thats just what I think!

  24. This product does seem expensive for what it is, however all of their products are quite expensive. Try their handcreams, they are lush!

  25. I've never used a face mist but I feel like I need one in this humid English weather! Apparently Avene does a really nice one too and it's only £6.50 :) lovely review xx

  26. Thank you for the review! Personally, living in a humid climate, I love these facial mists. I currently have the Vichy and La Roche-Posay ones. I don't know if the minerals have truly magic properties in the case of longer lasting make-up. However, they've been a huge life saver whenever I've been hit by one of those I-don't-know-what-brought-this-itch moments. I also use them as a mask - spritz it on one of those face masks, treat the face to some moisture and a little chill-out. =)

  27. Have never tried any face mists. You dont really need them with the weather over here! xxx

  28. I use the Avène Thermal Spray and I really like it! I use it after taking my make-up off/toning so it peps up my face a little. I then apply moisturiser once it's patted dry. I sometimes use it throughout the day to feel a little refreshed. I also don't believe the magical qualities of these sprays. I really like how honest you are in your reviews, makes things to much more readable :) xxx
