Aloha Sprinklerinos,
It's Friday, which means Great Big Lifestyle post. Hurrah!
Last week Matt and I visited some old friends in Market Harborough who I hadn't seen since my school days. I talked more about that HERE. I knew I wanted to take snaps but thought I would see if my little compact point and shoot camera would be up to the job of Friday Lifestyle standard photographs. It turns out, it wasn't.
I carried on regardless and tried to make the best of a grey day with a camera not up to the job I wanted it to do, but ultimately I regretted not taking my big girl Canon 600D with me. It's big and heavy but it really does have much better results. You live and learn I guess. I'm looking into buying a pancake lens so that it's that little bit less chunky to tote about so I'll update you on that if it happens.
Pity party over, let's crack on with the visuals.
After we left our friends we spent about an hour mooching about at a moochy pace. Market Harbourough is a lovely little village packed with charity, second hand book and arty shops. I'm an absolute sucker for vintage books and am growing quite the collection for Baby Glitter's nursery. I look forward to doing a tour of that soon for my YouTube Channel!
I'd love to say this was a perfect, wonderful, everybody smiling morning but it just wasn't. Darcy waved her brushes (latest obsession) round like crazy and hit her own face twice, the weather was a bit grim and really, we wanted to get home and retreat a little.
I toyed with the idea of painting this lifestyle post as a magical experience but then that's not really lifestyle is it? Sometimes life is sparkles and butterflies and sometimes it just is grey weather and squarky kiddies. That's alright. By lunchtime we were right as rain and Darcy was tearing round the back garden sans lethal hairbrushes and the sun had come out- hurrah once more!
Have you had any days like this recently? Where you expected amazing and came out with average? Comment them and console me! Haha x
Toodlepip!
xx

It doesn't matter which camera you have, your pictures always turn out beautifully no matter what :) You always seem to have lovely things to photograph. That seems to be my biggest challenge.
ReplyDeleteYour lifestyle posts are my favorite!

My trip back home was filled with pouring down rain and thunderstorms. I kid you not, I didn't see a sunny day until a week later (2 week stay). I was expecting an amazing time but it was average. But friends always make it better (:
ReplyDeleteI love these photos! So lovely! Ooh.. By the way, I love your sunnies and bag Ms. Louise! ^^
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!

The weather has an amazing way of affecting a day doesn't it? Today I'm off to Legoland and the sky is looking grey . . . . .. . . .sigh, typical British weather!

I live in Market Harborough! Sometimes you don't appreciate what's on your doorstep but this post is making me feel the love for my home town :-)
ReplyDeleteI was supposed to be doing activity days at school and the first activity was ice skating and I was so excited but I slipped on the ice and tore all the ligaments in my ankle and was on crutches for 2 weeks and missed out on the fun stuff for the end of term but I'm over that now because summer holidays start today and my ankles fine : D. Even though you didn't have the best day out Louise it looked like a lovely village :) hope you have a lovely day <3
ReplyDeleteI love all the pictures you take! It looks lovely there it's a shame the weather wasn't great

There is such something so wonderful about the feeling of an old book. AN old lady that lives in my street is going blind and she gave me a load of books that she can no longer read. Such a shame but they are all so beautiful x
ReplyDeleteMy dad used to read my brer rabbit every night before I went to bed! I love that you are keeping with the vintage books I have saved all mine for when I have a little one!

I am watching Zoe's Harry Potter Studio Tour right now, as I am reading your post. Haha. Anyways, these are such great photos. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

That bookshop looks like my paradise!! Nothing I love more than books. I really love the smell of them too, which is weird but I think that's quite a common thing! I have loads of old children's books at home because my dad used to print them. He did the Brambly Hedge ones in the 80s, which made me something of a celebrity at Primary School! Such cool times haha =) I have kept every book he has ever given me so that when I have kids, they'll have their own little library, like Darcy! xx

Gorgeous post Louise - even if it wasn't the idyllic day it was meant to be, it looks lovely! I always do things like that, I build things up so much they never match my expectations haha. You have such an artistic way of taking photographs - I love it! You're such an inspiration :)

Often times I get so excited for things, but they don't end up meeting my expectations and I sit a bit disappointed in the end. But I think having days that aren't always the best make us appreciate the good days even more <3

How lovely! I loved Enid Blyton books; I've saved all of my mine from childhood to I can introduce them to my future child... if I ever have one that is.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Darcy is growing up so super quick that I simply cannot deal with it - she's slowly but surely getting to be a Toddler Glitter!

Oh god Enid Blighton books are so delightful. I used to love the Folk of the Faraway Tree with Moonface and all the others. And I buy so many kids books so I'm prepared one day for my childrens to read the best books ever like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the like. (And I like reading them too).
ReplyDeleteI like that it wasn't a perfect day because days aren't usually perfect and I get bored when blog write about all the perfect no-mess days. It makes them seem like they live in a different world!
Your photography is gorgeous too, how did it get so good did you do a course or something? TEACH US.

I absolutely loved Enid Blyton books when I was younger! I'm tempted to go pull them out now and read them again! Haha is it ok for nineteen year old to do this? xx

I especially like the book porn you've got going on in these photos. I'm a huge fan of old books and their smell. Did you know they make perfumes that smell like books? Makes me very excited. And that picture of Darcy's ponytail is just adorable.

A few weeks ago my mum and I planned a lovely day out for my dad's bday - we took a boat down the Thames and spent the day at Hampton Court. it had been glorious sunshine all week and then turned cloudy and miserable. Rather than sunbathing all the way there we all sat inside shivering over hot chocolate. Instead of ice cream and outdoor picnics, we went home grabbed extra jumpers and settled down for a Chinese takeaway. But it turned out to be really nice, a bit of quality time with the folks and ultimately my dad had a gd day which was the point after all.
ReplyDeletep. s. the picture of you and Matt is gorgeous - def a keeper!
Wow! I really love your outfit! Louise, you are my favourite blogger by all time!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures Louise, looks like you had a fab time - I've been through Market Harborough and it looked like the prettiest place, I was dying to stop and have a proper look around...
ReplyDeleteLove a good bit of Enid Blyton too, read them all when I was little and would hope that one day my future children do too - timeless classics :)

The photos look great :) Love that you're honest with us and don't paint a pciture of a 'perfect' life xxx
ReplyDeletehttp://jeminixlife.blogspot.com
I love your honesty. After reading so many lifestyle posts on other blogs about how "magical" their outings are, it's really refreshing to read a post that "tells it like it is".
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling all nostalgic after seeing the Enid Blyton books. The Faraway Tree stories were my favourite as a little girl. xo
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, and i'm glad you tell us how your day really was, it's more personal :) xx

All of your pictures make me so jealous of your neighbourhood! It makes me want to jump on a plane immediately! And since I can't do that I'll have to settle for reading all my Famous Five books again as you've reminded me of how much I love Enid Blyton! xxx
