Topshop Goodies

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

On falling into Topshop the other week when I had a few minutes spare before I meeting, I accidentally fell to the till with a handful of new products, my money fell out of my purse and then the products fell into my makeup bag. What can you do eh? These things happen to the best of us.

I thought it might be quite nice to do a little blog haul since I usually feature this kind of thing more prominently on my YouTube channel, it's nice to give my blog a little lovin'.

I haven't fully road tested these products yet so am hesitant to give any kind of review but having used and adored Topshop lipsticks for years, I feel confident that they will be well loved assets to my makeup bag.

In 'The Damned', 'Boom Boom' and 'Beatnik', each lipstick retails at £8 and is creamy, pigmented goodness in a solid metal tube.

I also treated myself to a warm toned highlighter, a 'Lip Bullet' (basically a lip crayon with swivel-up mechanism when it gets blunt) and a Kohl eyeliner in 'coal' which is a trusted re-purchase.

I have always had fantastic experiences with the Topshop line so I am excited to get into these and if anything crazy good/weird/bad happens, I'll be sure to let you know.

If you enjoyed this post or are enjoying sciving from real life for a few minutes, why not read about my 2012 TopShop Splurge or my very first mention of Topshop makeup back in 2011! Yikes!! (I do hope I've improved somewhat since then!!)

What was the last thing you treated yourself to or splurged on?

Happy Wife FOTD

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

A little while ago my gorgeous Husband surprised me with a baby sitter (yay for sisters) and a trip out for some lovely time together.

Before leaving, I took a few quick shots of my makeup for our 'date night'.

Sprinkle of Glitter Makeup FOTD

I've been sporting this casual look quite a look of late. I do love dark smokey eyes and bright lips but I feel very confident and comfortable in this more low key one.

Beauty Products To Achieve This Look

Beauty Products for the Face Sprinkle of Glitter

MAC Strobe Liquid :: Great to mix into foundation to give lacklustre skin a bit of luminosity.

MakeUp Forever HD Foundation :: I love the finish of this but I do find it needs the strobe liquid to prevent the dreaded 'flat face'.

MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle :: My holy grail. There is no other warm toned highlighter in your life. Stop what you're doing and buy one now.

Sienna X Matte Contour Powder :: Incredible pigmentation, I have been using this every day for over 3 months and look how much I've used- next to nothing!

Clarins Palette Eclat Face and Blush Powder :: I focused my brush more on the coral and pink tones  for a blush and was really impressed with the lovely candy hue it gave.

Beauty Products for the Eyes Sprinkle of Glitter

L'oreal Super Carbon Gloss Liquid Liner :: Fabulous for winged liner in a rush.

Topshop Kohl in Coal :: Works wonder on your water line and also smudges well on the skin if you want it to.

Boots No. 7 Exquisite Curl Mascara :: The curved bristle wand is great for catching every eyelash and coating from root to tip.

Benefit They're Real Mascara :: Use to just thicken up the outer corner lashes. I think I really like this mascara but I'm still having the odd off day with it.

MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study :: The all time perfect champagne base colour for eyeshadows.

MAC Cyrstal Avalanche, Antiqued and Amber Lights :: Ideal for creating a neutral eye with a bit of a kick.

Look Beauty Brow Perfect Kit :: Despite being so hard to open that I jabbed 2 finger nails in the powder (massive grrr), I love this little powder compact. It does just the job for unruly brows, you are given a lot for your money and it's under a tenner. Woop.

Beauty Products for the Lips Sprinkle of Glitter

Balmi Lip Balm in Raspberry :: I have two balmis and I adore them both. I keep them in my makeup drawers (because my last one broke in my handbag, I'd like slightly sturdier packaging) and apply them right at the start of my routine, when I do my moisturiser, and then by the time I come to putting on my lipstick, my lips are fully ready and in prime condition.

Clarins Joli Rouge Brilliant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick in Guava :: This lipstick is from the new Spring Summer collection and I have been loving it. It's delicate, subtle but with a hint of glimmer- perfect for day to date!

And that's it! When you lay it all out like that, it looks like a lot more than it feels. I just had a quick count and it was twenty products- crikey.

I quite enjoyed doing a FOTD post in this style, with group product photos- what do you think? More in the future? Do you spot any products that you'd like a full review of?

I heart Topshop Crystal

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I'm going to assume that a large portion of you that read this blog are makeup addicts like me, and have far too much an enjoyable selection of makeup. You know how after a while, some products become a little samey and it can take quite a lot to impress you now? Well hold on to your seat belts, this is one of those products that will make you clap your manicured hands with joy!

I give you (well, show you pictures of!) Lips in Crystal by Topshop. *Combined 'Ooohhhh' and 'Ahhhh*

Lips in Crystal is a, "Moisturising sheer lip tint that reacts to your skin to create a unique pink shade" from Topshop's new Sisters Of The New Moon collection, and retails for £9.

Imagine a lip balm, shaped into a lipstick bullet, popsicle pink in colour, icing pink coloured glitter suspended within it, that reacts to your lips to create a beautiful rosey shade. That is what it is.
A-Mazing! Also, for all you glitter-phobes, panic not. The sparkle is actually very subtle on and doesn't give a 12-year-old-at-the-disco kind of look. Heh heh.

I love whipping this out of my handbag and just starring at it's supreme gorgeousness. I challenge you to not be mesmerised by it's beauty. Please do go and have a little swatchyswatch, because photographs don't do it enough credit in my eyes.

Quenches your lips? Check. Gives a little colour? Check. Looks incredible? Check.

Have you had a play with this little gem yet? No? Go and get your shoes on immediately!! Haha, nothing like demands and orders to finish a blog post off, eh?

Pink Sparkle

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

When the sun is shining and the birds are tweeting and we all have that spring in our step, I find myself drawn to cutsie girlie colours in every aspect of life, including my nails.

I think it's the promise of Easter that lures me to pastel pinks, lemons, lilacs and sky blues, but as ever, for me, a nail look isn't complete without a sprinkle of glitter. See what I did there? Heh heh.

In my opinion, there is very little better than pink sparkle. So as you can imagine, a have more than one nail polish in this variety, and love them all. I thought you might like to see which ones I love and then maybe add one to your collection too. Go on, I dare you.

I swatched these on a plain nail wheel (which you can buy HERE) so that you could clearly see, but I think they look gorgeous over other shades- mint being a personal favourite. I applied 2 coats for all products, to keep things nice and fair :)

Revlon Nail Enamel in 219 Sparkling is quite similar to China Glaze Glam in colour, but not in sparkle sizing. With one finely milled glitter and one medium, you can build up your coverage with multiple coats and could actually create an opaque look with this. I think the price tag (£6.49) is reasonable as the longevity is super and it's a little bit special because it was released (along with others) to celebrate Revlon's 80th Birthday. Save me a slice of cake!

Topshop Adrenalin (I believe) is set to be released at the end of this month and is a beauty! With finely milled pink glitter and holographic hexagons, this polish is slightly mesmerising. I *think* this will retail for around the £6mark, which I think is a fabulous price for something so glitzy.

China Glaze in Glam is the oldest of my pink sparkle collection and you can buy it HERE. I would describe the glitter in this as chunky. You don't get a fantastic coverage, but this allows your base colour to be quite prominent. You could apply just one coat if you wanted literally only a few dots or you could really build it up if you wanted something chunktastic. OOhhhh I think 'chunktastic' might be my new word.
Something sneaky that I like about glitter polishes, is that when they chip (which is usually faster than regular shades), you can easily touch up the tips without anyone seeing the chip-lines, because of the texture of the glitter. This means your manicure can last that little bit longer- Yipee!

Are you a glittery gal? Have you tried any of these little gems?

Topshop Splurge

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

No, no, before you scootch your bumbums to the edge of your chairs anticipating a Topshop clothing haul, let me rain on your parade- I bought no clothes! I never actually buy clothes from Topshop. Mainly because I have a fat ass and Topshop doesn't accommodate this and also because there isn't too much in their that really suits me. Meh.

What I do love from Topshop though is their make up range. I actually reviewed the sandstorm range last year, so if you'd like to refresh your memory, HERE it is.

A couple of weeks ago I was in London for the New CID event and had arranged to meet up with Victoria from VIPXO outside the Topshop on Oxford Street. It would have been rude to walk past and not stop by. Thirty eight English pounds later, here is what I came out with:

Since buying these beauties, I have loved the lipsticks so much that I've bought two more- oopsie. The lipliner in 'Fearless' is the PERFECT accompaniment for the lipstick in 'Brighton Rock'.

Whilst I meandered round the makeup (and bumped into Barbara aka ThePersianBabe of all people), I spotted a rather expansive Barry M counter and couldn't help but have a gander. I always check out Barry M because I love their pigments and have quite a little collection now. This particular counter seemed to have a much wider selection of shades than my usual ones, so I took full advantage and bought three more dazzle dusts.

I think they are all really gorgeous spring shades and will look lovely blended with other colours or patted all over the lid.

Pretty!

On to the pencils. I love them both. A lot.

'Coal' eyeliner has now become my absolute favourite and I will definitely be repurchasing when it runs out. It's darker than dark, smudges beautifully, stays on all day (where I left it too!) and gives the perfect smokey vixen eye. It's true love I tell thee.

'Fearless' lipliner is my second ever lipliner and is fantastic with 'Brighton Rock' lipstick. It glides on effortlessly with no stressful skin tugging and makes a brilliant base too. Since buying this, I have a lot of faith in Topshop lipsticks and will be looking into more.

I won't go on too much about the lipsticks because I recently made a video featuring them, but in a nutshell, they're great, get some!

Creamy, pigmented, long lasting, non drying, what more could you want?

How much do you love the packaging? So fun!

I know they look VERY similar, but I couldn't help myself. 'Brighton Rock' is very candy pink, where as 'Confession' is a pinkish coral.

Ooohhhhh look at coal. Sooooo black.

Yes, I know this is a stupid weirdo face, but I HAD to pick it over the nice smiley-show-the-lipstick-snaps because there is a little monkey poking round in the back! Tehe!

Overall, I think that was £38 well spend and I'm really pleased with my purchases.

Have you ever bought makeup from Topshop? What did you think?

February FOTD

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Those of you who watch my videos may well have noticed that I have been sporting the same sort of look of late. I have found a look that I find quick, easy and suitable for day/night/the lot.

On Saturday morning, before leaving for the IMATS, I snapped a few quick shots. I never know quite how to pose for facey shots, I know there is a certain blog style but having tried them, I look like a total goon, so I just tried to show you the products like a noooormal person.

Face

Moisturiser- I'm currently trying out a few, reviews to come.
MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer, NW15.
Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint Foundation, 02 Beige.
MAC MSF, Soft and Gentle.
2True Face and Body Bronzer.

Lips

Boots own brand Strawberry Lip Balm.
Topshop Lipstick, Brighten Rock.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss, Pink Pop.

Eyes

HD Brow Kit, Vamp.
Illamasqua Pure Pigment, Beguile.
Topshop Eyeliner, Coal. (Smudged with a pencil brush)
L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic Mascara (loving this at the moment, review to come).

Hmmm, reading that back it sounds like an awful lot of items but in the mornings, it doesn't feel like it. I can do this entire look in about 10 minutes. If I want to make it a bit more 'night time', I would use more eyeliner and spend longer on my lashes and also use a lipliner to do better lips, but seeing as this was at 7.30am, I was pleased.

Do you have a look that you find yourself going back to again and again?

Lou's Reviews :: Topshop Sandstorm Collection

Aloha Bloggerinos,

Oh me oh my have you seen the TopShop Sandstorm makeup collection? I luurrvveee it!!

I have a few gorgeous bits here and will be sharing the love and giving you my glittery little thoughts on them. I'm not planning on opening a couple of bits though as I want to keep them fresh for an April Giveaway (it's my Birthday Month, so I'm planning a few special things for you lovely Bloggerinos).

These are by far my most favourite things from the collection- I luurvvvee them! They are the Eyeshadow Mousse in Tundra (rrp £8), The Gloss Stick in Glisten (rrp £8) and the Eye Crayon in Equinox (rrp £.8.50) and below are swatches.

(I'm so glad you can actually see the sparkle in the 'Tundra' eye product because when I was showing it in my YouTube video, I had less luck than a walking under a ladder, whilst carrying a black cat and shouting the number 13, ie, NONE!)
I absolutely adore the fresh, girly, summery colours, they really make me feel ready for brightness and happiness and they are all vivid without being vulgar.

The eye crayon in 'Equinox' looks set to be my best friend this Spring (especially now I'll be pushed for time with a tiny baby), as you can use it as an inner corner/eyebrow bone highlighter, for a full wash or colour, for played down eyeliner or you can even apply a little to the cheeks for a golden glow. It blends like a dream and is lovely and soft, so no skin snagging :)

The little 'Eyes' paint point in 'Tundra'  is also very jolly. I love that it is made of glass, a rarity in packaging these days and the frosted effect adds a little bit of class I feel. The product is a dirty grey cream shadow with flecks of sparkle in for the glitter lover in you. I love the colour but still haven't worked out the best way to apply this- fingers, sponge tip, brush, but will let you know if I ever do! A slight problem for me with this product is the scent. It smells VERY chemically and I find this somewhat off putting, but this could be because pregnancy has made me ultra fragrance sensitive, so do have a whiff in store yourself!

My most favourite of the entire collection though is the Gloss Stick in 'Glisten'. Despite being called a gloss, I don't get this effect but do LOVE the colour with my darker hair and if I want a really juicy look, I have been adding a bit of Soap & Glory MotherPucker in 'BabyDoll'. It looks sensuous and yummy but not too mental/whorey (always best not to look a whore hahaha). The longevity is average, packaging is something I am happy to whip out in public and my lips don't feel parched after using- win, win, win.

I have actually made a YouTube video on these lovelies, which you can watch HERE, or alternatively, you can have a looksie on the official website below:

Have you tried or will you be trying this range?

LOU'S REVIEWS :: TopShop Sandstorm Cyclone Polish

Aloha Bloggerinos,

I've been super busy today, but I don't like to not post a video or article, so this is a really quickie (ooer misses!).

I went to the midwife this morning, hoping she would magically encourage Baby Glitter but alas, no such luck. She did say though that if there was no sign of her by next week we could do a ...... stretch and sweep! *shudder*. So tonight we've had the spiciest fajitas ever to smoke this little blighter out!!

Anyhooo, do you like this new nail polish? This is 'Cyclone' from the new TopShop Sandstorm Collection and retails for £5.

(Not the greatest of snaps I know, I was in a tizzy trying to get to midwives/feed the cat/find my bag etc etc- garghh!!)

I love the cube bottle, very chic and I enjoy the colour immensely. It's easily wearable for when you want something but not too much- perfect for job interviews and suchlike. Also, the joy of lighter colours is if they chip during the day, it isn't as noticeable, phewf! The cruddy picture above is just with 2 coats but no base or top coat, so I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time on them in future.

All in all, an ideal colour for when you're in a mad rush and want a tiny bit of subtle oomph.

I have quite a lot of the Sandstorm Collection and am really enjoying it, so keep your eyes peeled for more posts.

For more information on this polish, clickidy click HERE.
