Aloha Sprinklerinos,
Merry Monday to you my little puffballs. Ooof the festive spirit is upon me. If I could call you candycansugarsnaptwinklelightpuffballs I would. Oh wait.
Today's motivation is a bitter sweet but positive one.
Sometimes, the very best thing you can do is let go. A scary, scary concept.
I'm the kind of woman who likes to have her shiz together at all times, micro manage everything and everyone and keep all the balls in the air (ooer).
Recently it dawned on me that in certain areas of my life, I. Just. Can't. I can't keep everything contained and perfect. I can't control other people. I can't make every single thing be exactly what I want it to be and by trying I only upset, hurt and frustrate myself.
What's the point? Surely there are other precious areas of life you could focus your valuable energy on?
This week I decided to fully, fully let go of something. It's not a major thing but a thing none the less and I tell you what, I feel so good for it. I actually feel more in control for letting go of trying to control it. How crazy is that?
I know how frightening it can be to consider letting go of something. I know it can feel like if you let go you won't ever be able to pick it up again or that you won't be able to manage but, I think you will. Give it a try. If you are worried, just let go a tiny bit and see how you feel. Baby steps.
Apologies if this all sounds very mysterious and dramatic, it's not, I just think some things are better left unsaid.
What will you be letting go of this week?
Toodlepip!
xx
Love this! Fits in so perfectly with my life right now. Exactly what I needed to read :) xxxx

I let go of a huge part of my life yesterday and it was one of the hardest things I've ever done... It doesn't feel real at all but this post has made me calm down a little and realise that things will be okay so, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration!

I think I need to do this with certain areas of my life too, I worry far too much over something trivial and sometimes I just need to let it go. xx

So glad I read this! Had lots on my mind and now I'm on a mission to let anything go that is bothering me, thanks xx
ReplyDeleteIts crazy how this relates to me. Last night I finally decided to let go of my awful ex boyfriend- i had been holding onto him for 5 months whilst he used me and seeing this this morning just made me feel like I've done the right thing by letting go and blocking him on everything. Thank you Louise. xox
ReplyDeleteIt drives me crazy when someone else is at fault for my own disorganisation and there is no way to fix it until they cooperate!

It really relates to my situation right now. Yesterday night, when I lay in bed I thought about the meaning of life and especially my life choices so far. I was in doubt about if it was the right thing to do letting someone go 2 weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteYour post gave me new motivation :)
Hope you have a nice week!

ReplyDeleteThis week I am letting go of beating myself up for not feeling like "exercising"
allowing myself to eat well even if i do NOT exercise
letting go of the fact that I am active ,therefore I do not need to schedule a structured workout daily!
ahhhhhhhhh let it go
it is motivating indeed :) xx

ReplyDeleteI love your Motivational Monday's Louise! You inspired me to them myself, I just posted the first one on my blog today :)
ReplyDeleteI think letting go can be one of the hardest things to do, but the times I had to do it, it always turned out to be the right decision!
XX
I'm sure I could make a long list f things to let go of but I'm not sure if I'm ready to. It took a while for me to let go of trying to keep control of my environment and I feel better for it. I'm sure other things will be let go too in time. :) xx

I'm so glad you wrote this post. I haven't seen many similar ones, to be honest. But I think it's really important to address this issue. There is so much people out there who are struggling with this big, heavy boulder of worries and either they're going to let go and drop/move the boulder or it's going to crush them. (or keep crushing them)
ReplyDeleteLetting go can easily be one of the hardest things to do. If it's not hard, it probably wasn't as important (or as big of a deal) to the person as they thought. If you can easily flip over that big, heavy looking stone, it was probably made of cardboard. It takes strength to move the real stone even a bit. But, just like you said, baby steps.
Thank you so much for making this post, Louise. Lots of love xo
I thought that was really nicely put, that bit about the stone really being "made of cardboard." So true!

I've been learning this lesson recently as well. I tend to take on everyone else's problems as my own, trying to find a solution for each one all day. It's really quite freeing to just let go, and let others take care of their own responsibilities. The world will carry on just the same.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

This is such a hard yet necessary step to take sometimes. Even though letting that one thing go may seem like its a boulder right now, one day you can look back and see that it was just a little pebble!

It's not dramatic. Letting go of any negativity whether it be guilt, anger or whatever emotion, can release you and until you do it, you really do not realise how much it drags you down. Onwards and upwards, have a great week :)

Well said.
ReplyDeleteJust because some bloggers/vloggers are more in the public eye than others doesn't mean we have to divulge all the gory details. It's not about how you got there, but that you were able to get there and let go. I for one would rather read blogs about HOW they overcame something, not WHAT they overcame.
Life is about enjoying and embracing everything, despite the crappy bits in between. Great post.

This was really helpful, I'm the kind of person that never let go things because I feel like letting go = giving up and Give up is not something I'm used to do or that I even like doing. Anyways all I get holding on to certain things is to stress out and get upset and sad which is not good! This really made me see things from another perspective :) xx

You are amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea - especially when we as people can get so incredibly caught up with the little things in life! I'm definitely the kind of person to focus on the littlest of things that really don't matter in the long run, and I am a big over-thinker! I'll try this week to let go and allow myself to just be :)

Loving this message Louise, holding onto things just causes unnecessary upset and pain, so it's best to let go and move onto hoping for what the future may bring ❤

This week, i let go of the guy who broke my heart. It took me months to realize that if i don't let go, i will never feel better about it. So i wrote one last email on sunday, telling him that i'm done and that i deserved better. Now that i've let go, i already feel better about myself, i know i'm going to be okay

I can completely relate to this post as control is a huge issue for me too. If I feel like I don't have control over something then I end up feeling overwhelmed! I'm glad you've managed to let go of something, I need to take a leaf out of your book and do the same.
ReplyDeleteI actually just wrote a blog post similar to this one, on my University experience and mental health issues. It's not something I ever thought I would share, but it's bloggers like you that do discuss these issues, that make me feel like I can share my story too.
If anybody fancies reading it then I'll pop a link below. xxx

I can relate to you Louise in that I like to micromanage every project I do and know exactly what I'm doing at anyone time so I often have to just leave certain things to see how they pan out as otherwise I get too stressed and panicky.

Thank you for this post :) you are so right - I wish I could do this at times. I find it really hard to just let go of something. I started blogging only a few weeks ago and I started to obsess over every little thing, would people like it, what would people think, what would friends and family think? Who has unfollowed me on twitter and why etc. It just gets to the point where I need to stop because I can't control what others think. Thank you for this post. Everything you write always seems to be how I'm feeling, thanks hun x
