Motivational Monday || Hope

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Ok, today we're gonna get real. I'm gonna swear and be blunt and brutal. If you came here for your usual dose of sweet and floral (which is totally my normal vibe), today isn't gonna be your cup of tea.

This weekend has been totally shit. Utter, utter, complete shit.

On Friday I started suffering with a toothache. It came on suddenly and sharply and I took tablets for it. I have a huge fear of the dentist. My dentist is actually the kindest man ever and has been taking care of me since I was 4 years old but oh man do I have a fear of dental stuff.

My plan was to take painkillers until I could book an appointment on Tuesday and then see about a filling or whatever I needed. The pain increased. I started taking more tablets to try and numb the pain and I didn't listen when friends told me not to take too many.

By Saturday I had tummy ache (probably because I had taken more than the recommended dosage) and couldn't face any breakfast because my tooth hurt to eat. I was booked to talk at BeautyConLondon and didn't want to let anyone down so I forced myself on the train and hoped I'd feel better once I got there.

I didn't. On the train I was clammy, shaky, short of breath and nauseous. I rang my Dad to ask him to come and fetch me from a train station (I just wanted to get off the train) but he refused because he thought I was just panicking and he wanted to watch a rugby match. I was pretty hurt by that. So I stayed on the train and the sickness feeling washed over me in waves. I called my friend Natalie who was meant to be meeting me at BeautyCon and she agreed to meet me at Euston.

At Euston I was a mess. By this point the panic had set in, the pain was worse and I felt very unwell indeed. BeautyCon was defo off the cards. Thank you to all the girls who filled in my slot for me, it is so appreciated.

We had to decide how I'd get home. A car was an option but trains are actually quicker and smoother out of London and since I was still at the station it made sense. I forced myself to eat and drink something, got on the train and tried to think really calming thoughts.

My tooth was agony but I was afraid to take more pills. I took 2 more. Silly. The waves of heat and breathlessness washed over again and I knew I was going to throw up. I ran into the little loo and was very, very sick. Before I'd managed to press the button to shut the door. Hooray. People saw. Lovely.

One girl was so kind to me and also told me she was a viewer so if you are the blonde lady who chatted to me afterwards- thank you. It was really comforting to have someone to speak with.

I got home and my sister came round. She tucked me in bed and I laid crying/watching Netflix and drifting in and out of sleep. By Sunday morning I couldn't handle it anymore and rang round trying to find an emergency dentist.

By some miracle, my Auntie got hold of my usual dentist and he agreed to see me. I've never been more thankful for anything in all my life. At 3pm he removed the tooth and I went home.

It's 11pm now and it still hurts. It was a bit of a beast to remove so my face feels very bashed up and because of the nature of the infection, my socket (ew) hurts too.

The thing I think that has effected me the most this weekend is how alone I have and haven't felt.

For all of my adult life I've been in a team. The 'Matt & Lou' team. It was good for a long time and then bad for quite a while too. It's best that we're not in that team anymore but in times of sickness, the team was a good thing. I was very afraid to not be in that team this weekend and not have my trusty support.

I realised this weekend that I have a new team. My Manager Maddie and Producer Natalie go above and beyond what they have to do for their jobs and I feel like they really truly care. My little sister stayed in my house and watched TV alone downstairs whilst I was so poorly up here and my Auntie dropped her day to take me to the dentist and care for me. Also, my Dad cares too - when the rugby isn't on ;).

It's been scary this weekend. I haven't dealt with trauma like this alone before and I thought that without my old team it would be horrific. Well, it was horrific but I found my new team and I'm so glad about that.

I hope that every time a life hurdle crops up that I will find new teams or be able to lean on this one. It brings me such comfort to know that people care about me. I hope that if they ever need me, they'll turn to me and I'll be able to help them too.

When things like this happen, when you have to face fears, it's frightening and really shakes you up. I hope that as I go into this week I can focus on the positives- that I did it, that I have good people and that I am always well supported.

Thank you so much to everyone who left sweet Facebook messages or tweets, your love was very much felt.

I hope you have a good week and that you feel no fear for the challenges you face in it.

Toodlepip!

xx

  9. I think I'm with most when I say we all wanted to up sticks and come and help you yesterday. After a hellish week myself getting my gall bladder out and having a nasty blood infection beforehand, I'm traumatisied. Can't stop crying at the "what if" I wasn't here today for my girls. Anyhoo I'm here and getting stronger everyday. You will too Lou. Getting a tooth out is a big deal if you're scared of the dentist. Keep surrounding yourself in those that love you and think that there's always someone worse off than yourself (helped me). Healing thoughts being sent. Love ya x

  10. I hope your tooth gets better! I've never really had a toothache before so I can't really imagine how bad it is, but it sounds pretty awful! We definitely missed you at BeautyCon, but Lucy, Lydia etc. did a great job with their spontaneous Q&A! :) I wish you all the best xx

  12. Although this is different to your other Motivational Monday posts, I was equally touched and inspired by it. I have never suffered from a tooth ache before, but your point on a new team and how you felt alone without your old team mate(s), I can sympathise with. A lovely post that I will definitely come back to time and time again.

  13. Aw Louise, that does sound like a terrible weekend. I hope you feel better soon - at least the tooth is out now so hopefully the worst is over! I definitely get what you mean. For me, it's the same with friendship groups; over the past few years, I've jumped through several friendship groups (mostly because of leaving school and going to uni, and then realizing that the friends I had first made at uni actually made me feel very unhappy about myself). When I needed support, it was strange to not have the friends there I had relied upon before, but there was always someone on the horizon who helped me through hard times and made me feel okay. :)

  14. Awh Lou you really have been through the worst this weekend, don't worry about not going to Beautycon because i'm sure all your viewers would want you to be well and feeling better than making an appearance there! I think that everyone needs a Netflix day to allow the body to recuperate, just take some time and think about yourself! Hope your toothache gets better and Darcy gives you lots of cuddles to make you better xx

  21. Darling! <3 I truly and literally feel your pain.

We've had almost the exact same week. I've been having some sort of tooth pain for sometime now and by the time Sunday came around I was just a mess, my support team who are my parents are out of the country, and I've had to face the pain and the struggle to get a hold of my dentist, Monday was a holiday here in Canada. I was lucky enough to get an appointment Wednesday and the whole time I sat on the waiting room crying from pain, stress, anxiety, and just the general dentist fear. The only difference for us is that most of my problems aren't as severe as yours were, I do however have 3 more appointments booked to get all the work done that's needed. :(

Just know that along with your new team, you also get little Darcy to give you hugs (make sure shes giving you extra ones this week!) & you also have us, your team of followers, supporters, readers, watchers. We will continue to support you through whatever life brings to you & although we can't be there in times of need (although if you ever needed someone new to chat to you about whatever on your mind you can't tell anyone else - my inbox is always open!) We will support you from behind our laptops & phones. I hope that your week perks up a bit, now you've had your tooth out hopefully it won't be as painful. My mum almost overdosed on painkillers before because she thought it didn't matter because of how much pain she was in - So Lou please try & ease off the painkillers for a while! We'd hate to see you get hurt. (even more so of the bad tooth!)

  31. Thank you so much for this Louise! I really love reading your blog and your honesty is honestly so refreshing. So many people pretend that their lives are perfect and they are always glamorous and swish and perfect. For ordinary people like me it can be really difficult for your self esteem to think that other people manage to be perfect, so why can't you?! This blog post is so wonderful because you don't pretend like life is always perfect and that you always feel wonderful. It reminds us that you are an ordinary person who experiences ordinary (and horrible) things. I'm so sorry you had a bad weekend. I guess at the end of the day we've got to remember that life definitely is not easy and there's always going to be those hurdles and scary moments that we have to go through but we all should know that we're strong enough to push through them. I'm sure they'll be lots of brighter days for you that'll over shadow this weekend. Although I have to say if I've had a bad day I'll be like you watch net flix and cry over that day. 47. I'm so sorry to hear what a terrible weekend you have had! Tooth ache sucks, my Mum had it a couple years back and we were watching a school play and she just sat through the whole 2 hours with her head in her hands. And then, when we got home she was violently sick in the sink due to an overdose of the pill that she was on (the same as your situation). She was so ill and it's awful to see or hear that anyone has gone through a similar situation to my Mum's or yours. I hope you are a lot better now, you are so inspirational to maintain a good state of mind through that weekend (or as good a state of mind you can have whilst puking and having tooth ache) :) xxx

  48. I always find when you manage to come out of the toughest situations, you are stronger. You may not feel it at first, and you may be shaken for quite some time, but eventually you realize what you went through, and feel so much stronger for it. After a bad panic attack on a plane I went through a semester of constant anxiety, but now I am able to understand my fears better. I am still nervous, but so much stronger than I was.

As well, it's great in times of struggle to understand who is in your corner. Next time, you will be quick to know who to turn to. I also hope one day Matt is in your corner again. Again, I don't know your situation, and I'm not pretending to. But I know you mentioned you are on good terms, so one day maybe he can be a source of comfort and friendship in such a way that he could be a member of your team once again. And if not, you still have an awesome group of people in your life. Proud of you!

  53. Hey Louise,
I've never been married, but I've been in a very serious relationship that went to bust quite badly, so I can imagine what you're feeling. Actually, in some ways, what you describe is even closer to what I felt for a long time after several (what I thought were) close friendships fell apart. Even though I knew I was better off without them, and I knew I had some good eggs around me, I felt the loneliness acutely and I was terrified that I would never have anyone around to help me handle things. But, slowly, life did move on, as it does. I'm so glad for you that you've found "your people". And, obviously it's not quite the same as having someone right there to hold your hand or feed you soup, but know that thanks to your own hard work and love that you pour out into the world, there are thousands of people in this world at any moment who are wishing you well, and there is great power in group positive thinking!!

Lots of love and best wishes,

Seriously, life certainly doesn't always go to plan, and you truly help your audience understand that having and living a "good life" is not compromised when something goes a little pear-shaped.

  80. Poor Louise! I genuinely feel so bad for you! I got really anxious just reading the post, it must've been awful for you! I'm very proud of you and how you handled things ( Getting back on the train even though you were feeling poorly.) I would've had a full-on panic attack if I had to deal with that kind of pain and situation.
I feel so bad for you but I hope you're better now.

  90. This doesn't sound too fun at all. I know the feeling of life throwing you a few curve balls! But just to cheer you up think of all the connotations that go along with the word 'balls' made me giggle quite a lot writing it, hopefully it will you too.

Hope things get better for you, reading your posts bring a bit of sunshine to my day!

And the way the story unfolds gradually building up the tension while at the same time treading on that fine line between dark and light, good and evil, is just amazing how that was done in terms of sentimentality Ripley ,missed her daughters birthday because fate was cruel to her given the circumstances of her floating out into space for 57 years, after she escaped from the Nostramo.http://www.strongmenmuscle.com/alpha-zxt/

    ALPHA ZXT

Consider the controversial article published in the British Medical Journal in 1980, entitled: brain really necessary? It was based on the British rapper John and the work of the nerves, patients who suffer from hydrocephalus, which causes excess fluid to accumulate in the brain. Output pressure kills nerve cells and has consequences such as mental retardation and death in some cases.

  103. My name is SERENA WILLIAMS, am from UK. i want to use this opportunity to thank my great doctor who really made my life a pleasurable one today. This great man DR.EWAN brought my husband back to me, i had three lovely kids for my husband, about four years ago i and my husband has been into one quarrel or the other until he finally left me for one lady. i felt life was over and my kids thought they would never see their father again. i tried to be strong just for the kids but i could not control the pains that torments my heart, my heart was filled with sorrows and pains because i was really in love with my husband. Every day and night i think of him and always wish he would come back to me, until one day i met a good friend of mine that was also in a situation like me but her problem was her ex-boyfriend who she had an unwanted pregnancy for and he refused to take responsibility and dumped her. she told me that mine was a small case and that i should not worry about it at all, so i asked her what was the solution to my problems and she gave me this great man email address. i was doubting if this man was the solution, so i contacted this great man and he told me what to do and i did them all, he told me to wait for just two day and that my husband will come crawling on his kneels just for forgiveness so i faithfully did what this great man asked me to do and for sure after two days i heard a knock on the door, in a great surprise i saw him on his kneels and i was speechless, when he saw me, all he did was crying and asking me for forgiveness, from that day, all the pains and sorrows in my heart flew away, since then i and my husband and our lovely kids are happy.that's why i want to say a big thank you to DR.EWAN spiritual temple. This great man made me to understand that there is no problem on earth that has no solution so please if you know that you have this same problem or any problem that is similar, i will advise you to come straight to this great man. you can email him at:covenantsolutiontemple@gmail.com, you can still call him on his mobile number +2347052958531 SERENAWILLIAMSuk@gmail.com
