Glitter Weekly #3

Oh Hai,

I was thinking about what I would write on my blog this week and mulling a few ideas round in my head. A lot of the topics I wanted to discuss kept being mentally crossed of the in-my-head list because I felt like they weren't very original.

I wanted to talk about how easy it is to have your confidence knocked, I wanted to talk about how important it is to surround yourself with inspiring people, I wanted to talk about how you should make time for yourself and thought about talking about some of the things that happened last week.

All of those things were in my weekly vlog that goes up each Sunday at 9am GMT. I'm going to start popping my videos here again (providing the embedding coding works, I've had tech issues with it before) and then those of you who don't subscribe to my channels will have something to catch up on over here! If the embedded video doesn't work on your device, you can click HERE to be taken directly to it. Why not subscribe whilst you're there?

I hope you're all having amazing weeks! I've been pretty ill so far but hopefully on the mend and will still have a weekly video going up on Sunday morning for you over on Sprinkle of Chatter (my secondary YouTube Channel) - woo!!

You're chill, I'm chill, We're all chill.

Oh Hai,

Yesterday I did the school run, came home, threw caution to the wind and made a video without so much as brushing my hair. HOW GLORIOUS.

I'd half filmed it already with a vloggy trip to Homesense but I needed to complete the haul section. I'd put it off for over a week, waiting for the perfect moment to be fully made up or my house to be gleaming and then I realised- that's never going to happen. Never ever.

'Sod it', I thought. I'll just film it now, as I am, just like this.

So I did. And everyone was fine. In 1979, no-one died. If you know where that last line is from, we are soul mates.

Anyway, less on my new feeling of school run-filming liberation and on to the video.

Thanks for being chill about my new chill- long may it continue!

Have a great Thursday!

Why I'm 'Quitting' My YouTube Channel

Oh Hi,

This is the kind of blog post I feel like I need to take a deep breath before writing. The kind that I need to sit in a quiet room and type fast sentences with long pauses for thought. I've been doing this for almost 7 years but still, there are posts where I feel nervous, like it's my first, and I am tentative yet buzzy with energy for.

If you're reading this, you have most likely hopped over from my video. I've not filmed that video at the time of writing this. I decided I'd put all my thoughts down here, succinctly and carefully and then in the video I can freely chatter about it and if something is missed, I won't feel that pang of panic when you forget something, because it'll be securely noted here. This blog post is my safety net I guess.

(A very real picture. This is what I look like as I type this post. My necklace is wonky, my hair's a bit frizzy and those roots need some help, I don't have any concealer on and if I'm honest, some of that is yesterday's mascara. For a long time I've tried to be perfect. It's exhausting.)

Here goes.

Sprinkle of Glitter (the blog) began one late Autumn night on Sept 20th 2009. Two months prior I'd bought a tiny fixer-upper house with my then fiance and I wanted somewhere to document the DIY we did in it. It was set to be a 3 month Autumn project to keep me busy when boredom set in. I'd had a lot of projects before that (my stint volunteering at the cattery, my obsession with Japanese seed beads, a failed attempt at daily baking etc etc) and so this felt no different. I wasn't one to stick at things.

As the months rolled by, my love for the community around blogging deepened and once the house was finished, I didn't feel like the blog was. I transitioned it from DIY to beauty and in January 2010, set up a YouTube channel, also called Sprinkle of Glitter.

When Sprinkle of Glitter started, I was a 24 year old PA in a corporate (aka so, so dull) office. I was engaged, planning a wedding, making new friends in a town I hadn't lived in for 6 years, doing up a house and basically, just finding my footing with adulthood. Life was sweet and so was I.

Seven years later and a lot has happened. If you've been following all these years, some of this will be familiar. If not, let me fill you in.

I had a big white wedding and we fixed up our house. We planned for and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl (Darcy) and lived happily and lovingly as a family of three (four if you count the grouchy old cat called Mindy that we adopted). Then, as many couples do, we drifted apart, couldn't fix our differences and parted ways to start new chapters separately. A big life thing.

Over the past two years I've adjusted to single parenthood and acutely felt all the ups and downs that come with it. It still feels like I'm getting to grips with it and new things are still being experienced. As I write this, Darcy is on a holiday with her Dad and his partner. It's the longest I've ever been away from her and whilst I'm pleased for her having this experience and glad she is so loved by them, a part of my heart aches for her to be home with me. It's a hard mix of emotions. Each time something new happens in the shared parenting/single mother arena, the next time feels easier. There are lows but of course, lots of highs too. I'm learning how to navigate and 2 years in, I feel OK. I'll probably touch on this more in the future.

I've tried my hand at dating, or 'disaster dating' as I've referred to it over copious glasses of fizz with my friends and hope that one day soon I'll fully love and allow myself to be fully loved in return. Although my heart is squishy and open to the idea, it's also fiercely protective of Darcy and any repercussions my love life could have on her. Tricky tricky.

In the last few years, I've learnt a lot more about what friendship is, what it means to me and the type of friend I am to other people. I've had moments where I've felt so thankful to the people in my life that I could burst. Friends that will pick you up off the floor, shivvy you along even when you're crying, laugh with you over nothing, chatter for hours, embark on tiny adventures (Emma- the time we ran breathlessly from the pub cackling all the way down the road, I'm thinking about this right now!), cheer for you in your success and fill your heart, those are friends.

I've had some big years. I've had amazing highs and frankly, some pretty awful lows. I've had some 'dig deep' moments and have enjoyed the feeling of always plodding on, always finding the best in each day and always enjoying whatever I have.

Personal life, you have been a big ass roller coaster.

Professional life, so have you!!

I no longer work in the stuffy office of dullness. Instead, quite unexpectedly, social media has become my full time gig and it's all because of you. Your reading, your watching, your support, your kind comments, your love, has turned this late night Autumn project into a blossoming business. Thank you. A million times, thank you.

I was going to do a round up of everything Sprinkle of Glitter has offered in the last 7 years but it's way too much. It has just been incredible. I'm going to have to write an entire post of it's own on it next month because I think it deserves to be documented. I've made life long friends, experienced things I never thought possible, met unbelievable people, travelled, created, published, designed and lived fully. It's hard to express in a paragraph how much has happened- it's been life changing.

And so to my point. When I began all this, my life was so different, I was different. I was sweet and sugary and untarnished I guess. In almost a decade (woah), I've had knocks and scrapes and growth and life. I'm different. I'm still me, but I'm an older (maybe wiser?) me. I still see life through positive eyes and I still laugh at the ridiculous but I'm an adult. Life isn't all blessings and giggles. Life is loud and vibrant and amazing and gentle and rough and everything in between. I am those things too sometimes.

As I've grown in my real life, I haven't allowed myself to grow in my online one. I've kept everything rosey and sweet and although I've shared vulnerable moments and been very honest, I've always sugar coated, held back and tried very hard not to offend.

As an audience grows in size as mine has done (woohoo), so do the amount of opinions you have thrown at you. You're not honest enough, you're sharing too much, you're boring, you're immature, you're using this for views, you're not showing enough of that, you're saying things you shouldn't, you should come out of your shell more. You simply cannot win.

In a bid to try to though, I've held back. A lot. I've kept things sweet and nice and plodded along reasonably unscathed by the dreaded trolls and haters. I've played it safe. I've stayed inside my box.

I'm so, so bored.

My sense of humour is dirty and my life is adult. I like to do shots with my Mummy friends (not with our littles around obviously!), I like to say, 'fuck' and I sometimes, heaven forfend, take Darcy on adventure days that go on past her bedtime. I'm not perfect. I'm don't live a princessy life in a house made of candycanes (although that does sound cool), I just do normal things. I'm 31, I work, I play. I'm so bored of making things I know will just coast by, not upsetting the apple cart. I want to run free and enjoy it.

I still do want to make videos about the usuals (hauls, motherhood, collabs) but I want to just let myself go more. I need to shed this sugary sweet sparkles and unicorns thing and just say, 'hey, my name is Louise Pentland. I'm a nice gal, doing my best, dating, mumming, enjoying myself, let's share and talk and enjoy'.

I want to make videos about the hideous dates I've been on, heck, I'd like to make videos talking brazenly about some of the sex I've had. I'd like to make videos talking about Motherhood not just in a light way like I do now but I'd like to tell you what I find hard without you thinking I'm a shit mother or what I find easy without you thinking I'm being smug. I want to make videos about my journey with religion and faith. I want to talk openly about my relationship with the church and what it means to me. I'd like to be able to openly admit that I don't like choker necklaces or those little circle framed sunglasses with blue mirrored lenses! I'd like to run free with my sense of humour, I'd like to be able to have adult conversations, aimed at adults, even though I know some (although not the main proportion) of my audience are young.

What I really want for the next seven years, and hopefully with your blessing, is to step forward and just be the person I am. More raw, more real, more me.

What do you think? Are you chill with that?

Darcy Does My Makeup

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

How are your day's going? Mine is going well but I'm sooooo sleepy. I'm battling the urge to nap on my laptop!

Earlier this week I uploaded one of my most requested videos, 'Baby Glitter Does My Makeup'. It was an absolute hoot to film. Have you ever let a 4 year old loose with a whole load of colourful makeup and glitter? You should. Just to say you've experienced it!!

Darcy really enjoyed the opportunity to make Mummy's face 'beautiful' and be in front of the camera- she's such a little ham.

I definitely need to make more fun videos like this. Sometimes you can fall into the trap of trying to make serious or information-y content but this just-for-the-jollies piece was so worth the time and mess! I love hearing her little voice and all the strange little things she said as she was creating.

(Screenshot from the video. What does this even mean??? Ha)

If you have a spare 5 minutes, please do go over and check the video out, it's suuuuuuper cute!!! You can watch it HERE or I have embedded it below (fingers crossed technology favours me!!)

Louise In LA

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If you have been following me on my vlog channel, 'Sprinkle of Chatter, you will have seen that earlier this month I was in LA for a week of fun, collabs and adventures.

Since all the videos are now published, I thought it would be fun to answer some of your questions!

If you would like to watch the vlogs, click HERE.

Now, on with the questions!

Favourite thing you purchased in LA?

Oohh this is very easy. After seeing it on so many beauty blogs and in beauty videos, I took myself off to Sephora and picked up the Becca & Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter and oh my life, I was not disappointed. Although it's a pressed powder product it applies like an intense cream, blends beautifully and leaves you like a golden goddess. I've used it almost every day and I can safely say, it's love.

Where was your favourite place to go?

Somewhere I went to but would have liked to spend more time at was Venice. It had sweet little canals and beautiful homes and lots of little nooks and crannies. To me, America feels really big and intimidating with it's crazy wide roads and huge buildings but Venice had the higgledypiggledy vibe that London has so I felt nice there.

Favourite restaurant out there?

So, I'm not sure if I would call this a restaurant, but In-N-Out Burger. It's a fast food place (with eat in or drive thru) and oh em eff gee it was good. So good I had it twice. Once when I was in a grumpy hangry mood and once to cure a hangover (oops haha) and it was EXACTLY what I needed. I don't really eat beef so I was just going to get Animal Fries (I had those once a couple of years ago and have been dreaming of them every since) but Drew was way too much of an enabler and ordered me a grilled cheese thing too. It was the stuff of dreams I'm telling you. Also, whilst I'm at it recommending things- pink lemonade. You need it in your life.

Would you ever consider living out there?

I've always dreamt of spending some of my life living in America. The problem now is that Matt and I are separated, so taking Darcy over to America (and therefore away from him) would be a horrible idea and something I don't want to do. So, maybe when she's a lot lot lot older I could do it or if I really wanted to, perhaps I could divide my time between the two for a few weeks at a time. No plans for moving anywhere for a good while yet though.

Hardest thing to over come being away from home?

The hardest thing was obviously being away from Darcy. I'm pretty good at switching between Mummy Mode and Louise Mode but there were times, particularly at DisneyLand where my Mummy heart hurt. Also, as we've talked about before, I struggle REALLY badly with being out of my comfort zone so doing so much on my own (without Matt, family or Maddie) was a challenge. I was really grateful to Cayleigh and Drew for being so lovely and understanding. Even when I had a little strop in the car once hahaha.

Best night out you had?

I think the best night out was a night at Joey Graceffa's house. We had a mermaid pool party for our friend Cayleigh, with amazing drinks, yummy food, lols and of course, pool time. I wore the bikini I bought here last winter. I'd been building up the courage to go for a bikini for months and when I finally did it, it felt so freeing. It was pretty pricey ($89.99 plus extortionate shipping) but omg, it was so worth it.

Did you see any famous people?

Well, I collabed with some of the most fabulous YouTubers in LA so yes!

Favourite thing you did?

One afternoon my friend Drew and I drove the length of Mulholland Drive and then down to the coast. Pootling around in cars, singing careoke and taking in the view is basically my idea of heaven so this was the perfect afternoon for me. There is something really soothing about being driven about and listening to someone telling you which school they went to as a child, pointing out famous houses and stopping to take a few insta's of the scenery!

Will you go back to DisneyLand?

Yes. My heart belongs to Disney. Not Walt, just yanno, the concept of Disney.

What was your favourite part of DisneyLand?

In the last hour of the day, when we were so tired and ready to head home, Cayleigh, Drew and I jumped on a Story Book ride. It was a little boat (that tipped about thank you very much) that meandered through sweet grassy verges adorned with all the houses of the Disney characters. The structures were only doll house size but so detailed and sweet, I could've done that ride so many more times and looked at everything. Sometimes it's not the big beasty thrills that make your favourite memories but the quiet little moments that capture your imagination.

Any weird accidents?

Oh yes. So, it was early morning and Cayleigh and I had been swimming in the hotel pool. PJ and his gang were due to arrive round to come and record my voice for something Oscars Hotel related. We'd spent a bit too long at the pool, I was wearing a towel and the door knocked- they were here!! I shouted, 'just a minute!!' and tried to put my dress on. I wasn't fully dry so it got all tangled and stuck, I had no underwear on, I frantically whispered to Cayleigh to help me and basically was a half naked, half moist (ooer) woman caught up in a dress and she saw everything! Hopefully by the time I opened the door to PJ he had no idea of my issues. Incidentally, I still had no underwear on for the entirety of the voice recording!!!

What song reminds you of your trip?

Dear Future Husband by Meghan Trainer. Cayleigh had it in her car on repeat haha.

Will you visit LA again?

I really hope so.

Did Darcy miss you?

Funnily enough, I don't think so. She has such a great time with her Daddy and is so used to spending chunks of time with each of us separately that I think she was just happy to be doing what she was doing. We Skyped a few times though, mostly for my benefit haha.

Favourite thing about LA?

I'm gonna be really smooshy but, the people. I have lots of American friends now and one thing I always notice is how welcoming and hospitable they are to me. Cayleigh was always on hand to gee me up when I was having a scardycat moment, Drew did all my favourite things with me (he even sat through all of Bridget Jone's Diary and ordered aaaalllllll the room service food which pleased me soooo much. Netflix and dinner, bliss), the Whats Up Moms ladies for having me over for the day (with amazing food, the best girlie chats, shopping and taking me to the airport), Joey for hosting the amazing mermaid party and letting me raid his fridge, Ingrid, Cat and Mamrie for taking the trouble to come out to my hotel to film such fun collabs.

-------------------------------

Thank you to so many of you on twitter for asking such good questions, I really enjoy posts like this so I think I might do more like it- it's like taking part in a mini interview haha!! Don't forget to checkout the vlogs and things I've linked in the post for you and I'll see you all soon!

Another Baby One Day?

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

In case you missed it on my YouTube channel, this week I uploaded a video answering all the questions you asked me on Twitter using the hashtag, #AskLouise.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/JYHUPL5EFi8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It was really fun to just sit back and answer the things you wanted to know, even with the cat did savage my foot to shreds.

If you have any video suggestions for the next few weeks- let me know in the comments below and I will add them to my list!

Popping My Target Cherry

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If you follow along on Twitter or Insta you'll know that a couple of weeks ago I went to Seattle to visit my American Bestie Marie from the YouTube channel BitsandClips.

For the entire 4 years (woah that went by fast!) of our friendship we have chatted almost every day on Skype and shared all the little bits of life that have meandered in and out. Our favourite thing to do is just, be.

We've officially physically spent time together on two occasions. Once for a week in Spring 2014 in Seattle and once for a week in Winter 2015 in Orlando (for a big trip to Disney). Both of those trips were a whirlwind of sightseeing and families and activities. This trip wasn't. It was blissful.

We decided to just have a week of hanging out, chatting, watching films, enjoying laptop club, seeing our girls play and eating waaayyyyy too many starbucks bagels. Oh my how I loved it.

One of the many 'normal' things we did was visit a Target. My first over trip. Yeah buddy! As a YouTube addict I've seen an absolute tonne of vlogs from people who go there and watched lots of hauls but had never actually had a moment to go in and enjoy it. And, who better to enjoy a place full of trinkets and joys than the person who delights in all the things like that- MARIE!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4qw4tMkxcVw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If you are struggling to watch the embedded link, click HERE to be taken directly to my channel.

So, $143 later we were outta there and I was confused as to how that all happened!

We had a little time before my flight home on the last day so whilst my Darcybluebird watched a film (you can just about spot her in the background), we filmed a haul video and had all the giggles.

I hope you enjoy listening to us chitchat along as much as we enjoyed filming it. I wanna do these kinds of videos every single time I see her I think.

BOOK COVER REVEAL! Life With A Sprinkle Of Glitter

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I mentioned this in a video lately but I thought it would be fun to share it here too.

In case you didn't get to see the jazzy little video, oh em gee, this is what my actual book cover will look like! I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!

It takes so much love and time and effort and (sometimes) tears to write a book, so when you see something like this, it's kind of like watching your baby walk. You just feel such a great sense of pride. Oof, my heart.

The book hits shelves on July 2nd but if you would like to get ahead of the game and pre-order it, you can click HERE for the Amazon link.

I can't wait to have my copy in my hands!

How I SHOULD Get Ready

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I'm writing this from a huugggee hotel room in Seattle (I almost wanna spend the blog post talking about the great deal I found on flights and hotels for me and Baby Glitter but that's something for another time haha), whilst Darcy has a bit of Netflix time and we wait for Marie to come and collect us for a day of fun.

I uploaded a new beauty video to my main YouTube Channel (Sprinkle of Glitter) this week and thought it would be fun to share it here whilst I had a couple of minutes to spare.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zPQM4dNrVgQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I actually filmed this a few weeks ago when I was in London for a few meetings. It's much easier to film this kinda dealio in a hotel room than my rickety little messy house. Since I stay in hotels a lot, I should probably try and do this more often!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed it and had a little giggle with me.

Use your 'And' | Video

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Slowly, slowly I am falling back into blogging. It feels good. This feels like a sort of home for me. I love tiptapping away here and talking to you, I feel like you are a friendly face.

This week I uploaded a new YouTube video and incase you aren't subscribed to my channel, you can watch it here too.

I worked with a brand called 'Venus' who sell razors (and I think maybe other hair removal products but don't quote me on that!!) to share the news of their new campaign, 'Use your And'. When I heard about it way back in January I instantly loved it!! I read about a lot of beauty industry campaigns and don't often want to share them because I think they are a bit naff or not my style but this one totally is.

Filming day was great too! I was a little nervous to film this video because I haven't used my big camera in ages, have changed my room round and couldn't figure out a good set up. On top of that, Darcy was in a crazy hyper mood and Matt wasn't available to have her that day. So, fortunately, my sister came over to help me, the set up all just came together beautifully and after a few trial runs, I was really happy with the lighting! Hurrah!

If you are having trouble with the embedded version, click HERE to be taken directly to the video.

What do you think of this campaign? Is it your cup of tea?

Not Worth Watching || YouTube

Aloha Sprinkerinos,

In case you are strictly a blog reader who never ventures onto YouTube (do those people exist?? Are there people out there who actually aren't addicted to YouTube?????), I thought I would share my lastest main channel video with you here too. Yippee.

Last week I filmed a very impromptu video with my good friends Jack Howard and Caspar Lee. I was meant to be just going into the Gleam office for a meeting about the next Amity Tour (oh me oh my those plans are getting VERY exciting!!!) and then Caspar asked me to be in a quiz video he was making! I was supposed to be seeing Jack later that night so dragged him along with me and this silly little video was born.

I'd quite like to do a well planned video with Caspar soon because I really do think he's one of the funniest boys I know as well as the sweetest (but shhhh, don't tell him I told you that!), so if you have any ideas, let me know!

Enjoy the video!! If you have trouble playing the embedded link, click HERE to be taken directly to YouTube for it!

Primark Haul

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

To me, shopping is therapy. Walking round the racks and racks of brightly coloured garments, running my fingers over the textures, flicking through the hangers for my size and picking something up to decide whether I want to take it home or not. Oof. I just love it.

Over the Christmas holiday and last week I made two trips to two different Primarks and collected a few bits and pieces for our upcoming travels (more on those another day).

I made this haul video to show you the delights Primark has to offer at the moment and lots of you left lovely comments saying you enjoyed it.

Sometimes I think watching Haul videos is like the modern day equivelant to window shopping. It's addictive and I love it!

If you are unable to see the embedded version, click HERE to watch it directly on YouTube.

Do you ever shop at Primark? What do you usually buy?

Darcy Does Disney

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

If you read THIS post way back when last year, firstly, thank you for being a long time reader, but secondly, this week I fffiinnaaallly uploaded the video of the day!

Oh me oh my editing and uploading that was like reliving it all over again, especially since we are going back to the most magical place on earth with the BitsandClips familyin March 2015.

I remember on the holiday I hardly filmed anything (I just have these 2 vlogs) because I felt like I needed to be super present in all the moments. Whilst I do want to have those super connected moments with Darcygirl, I also wish I'd filmed more because having these visual memories are priceless. Next time, I'm going to film and snap more!

If you are struggling to view the embedded version, click HERE to watch it directly on my channel.

To the viewers that described this video as a 'hug in a vlog', I'm so with you!

Autumn Lookbook Comments

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I just wanted to drop by and say such a huge thank you for all the amazing comments you left on my recent Autumn Lookbook.

I logged into my YouTube account today to be met with this little message!

I am always so amazed at how much of a community this is. I see so many lovely things written to and about me but what really gets me is when I see the wonderful things you write to each other.

Thank you for always being so kind to me. I'm not sure I say that enough and wanted to remind you how grateful I am for you. Big, big loves.

Also, apologies for this being so short- I have a three year old desperate for me to do some colouring with her!!! Mama duties call!!! <3 p="">

#ZoellaBeauty

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Unless you've been living under a rock, I think you'll have heard of my friend Zoe and her brand new pamper product line Zoella Beauty. You can find out more here, here and here.

To celebrate the launch of this wonderful range, with the help of camera lady extraordinaire Katie Snooks and editing wizz Jack Howard, I made a Get Ready With Me (GRWM) video showing you how I styled my hair and makeup for her party.

If you are struggling to view this video, click here to be taken directly to it.

Would you like to see more of these GRWM videos or do you prefer the sit down chatty style?

All About That Bass || YouTube

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

You know when you find a song that you love so much you play on repeat about a squillion times a day? I have one of those.

I've already tweeted about it a couple of times because I love it so much but I thought that since the video is so pretty (I basically want every single outfit), I would share it here too.

I told a friend recently that I loved everything about this song and he said, 'I don't like it. She says, 'skinny bitches' something or other in it'. I was really disappointed that he had jumped to such a speedy assumption before looking into it properly and for this reason I'm going to include a copy of the lyrics. Note the three lines following relate to the way even the girls we perceive as 'perfect' ('skinny bitches') have insecurities and that everybody, regardless of their size or shape, is beautiful.

"All About That Bass"

Because you know
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass

Yeah, it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two
But I can shake it, shake it
Like I'm supposed to do
'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places

I see the magazine workin' that Photoshop
We know that shit ain't real
C'mon now, make it stop
If you got beauty building, just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of you is perfect
From the bottom to the top

Yeah, my mama she told me don't worry about your size
She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold at night."
You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
So if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along

Because you know I'm
All about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass
Hey!

I'm bringing booty back
Go ahead and tell them skinny bitches that
No I'm just playing. I know you think you're fat
But I'm here to tell ya
Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top

Yeah my mama she told me don't worry about your size
She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold at night."
You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll
So if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along

Because you know I'm
All about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass

Because you know I'm
All about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass

Because you know I'm
All about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass
'Bout that bass, 'bout that bass
Hey, hey, ooh
You know you like this bass

I am constantly hoping to spread the message of self empowerment so and thrilled to see an artist producing this sort of music.

All About That Bass is available to pre-order HERE. I NEED this on my phone for my Baby Glitter walks!!

Have you heard it yet? What did you think?

The Pointless Video

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Last week my good friend Alfie Deyes bought out his brand new book- The Pointless Book.

Is is an interactive activity book where you are encouraged to play games, draw little doodles, finish off pictures, answer silly questions or do specific tasks in your life. It's a lot of fun and something absolutely worth making a video on!

Lucky for me Hazel was ready for the challenge and so we had a giggly little morning playing with the book and making a light video for you- hope you enjoy it!

Sometimes You Just #Fail

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

You know when everything just falls to pieces a little bit? Weeeellllll, that's what happened with this week's video. *sad face*

I'd been suffering with a terrible cold all week and thought, 'ohh nooooo I hate not having a Sunday video, what will I do?'. I quickly realised I had some footage from my collaboration with Jack Howard (HERE and HERE) and decided to use that. So far, so good.

I go to look for the footage, it's not there. I do that panicked clicking through every file on your desktop, even the one called 'Summer 2013', cos yanno, it might just be there, but alas, it isn't. I just have a big chunk of it that's missing the first part. Jolly good.

The choice was simple. Load up on lemsip, put more makeup on that a counter in Boots, film something rubbish and upload OR explain how rubbish I am as an intro, pop it in front of the good footage and hope the world understands.

As you'll see, I went for the latter and thank goodness, you all did.

I love you Sprinklerinos. Thank you for being so gentle with me. I need it sometimes.

Annual Stationery Haul

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Whether you're packing your bags for school/college/uni or you have an office desk adorned with every assortment of notepad and rollerball gel pen, stationery is the greatest. There is something special about crisp new sheets of paper or brand new packs of pencils that makes my heart skip and beat and to share this excitement, I uploaded my annual stationery haul this weekend.

Buying all of these goodies was quite the joy and now the hard part will be restraining myself again til next year!

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into a crazy women's desk. If you are unable to watch this embedded version you can click HERE to be taken directly to my YouTube Channel.

What items of stationery can you not live without?

Summer Listings

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

You know how much I love a list? Well I'm at it again. A couple of months ago in THIS post I talked about things we have on this Summer and with July speeding past in the blink of an eye, I thought I'd update you and future plan. Mmmm it's like blog therapy to me!

June

June was so intense I felt like my feet barely touched the ground.

Watching 1D perform live, performing live ourselves on stage in NYC and attending Vidcon were all highlights.

Homey bits that melted my heart were celebrating Father's Day and watching Baby Glitter give all her love to her Dada and taking her to her first ever kiddie birthday party. Any parties we've ever had have been very family orientated so to see her running about with playgroup pals and having such a great time was lovely. There are a few shots of it in the video embedded below.

July

So far, July has been luxuriously relaxed. We got back from LA just under 2 weeks ago, Zoe and I hosted an event at the Warner Brother's Studios (which. was. amazing. HERE is the vlog) and I've spent the rest dividing my time between London, friends and family. Ideal.

Another joy this month has been kittens. Kittens. KITTENS. I wrote THIS blog post about them and uploaded THIS featuring the little fluffballs. Ooof I love them so.

Something else I've enjoyed a lot this summer has been shopping. I've always been a bit of a magpie for lovely things but this Summer I've caught the bug bad. In an effort to shop with slightly less guilt I've signed up to topcashback.co.uk which is a site full of great discounts and money saving opportunities (just gonna throw this out there- they have Mothercare and Superdrug on there-yay!!). Topcashback have kindly said that if you are a reader and you use THIS link to sign up too, you'll be gifted with a free Soap &  Glory Lid Stuff product. I actually already own this so can fully vouch for it being a little gem to have in your makeup bag. Besides, who doesn't love a freebie? Thank youuuuu!

August

August is set to be blissful (touch wood). The only things properly booked in my calendar are Summer In The City, a music festival for Matt (I'm not the wellies and tents type) and a couple of family/neighbourhood parties.

With Matt off for the Summer Holidays we are toying with the idea of vlogging every day that month. I say 'toying' because I've never successfully stuck to an entire month. Remember the fail that was Vlogmas 2013? Haha. Would you like to see a month of our summer? There is a big part of me that fancies the challenge but a little part of me that's afraid of failure.

Also this month are family birthdays, lots of stationery shopping for my annual Stationery Haul video and helping my little sister pack for university- I swear she was only a toddler five minutes ago.

And there we have it. My summer. I would be really interested to hear what you have planned, whether you have grabbed your topcashback freebie and whether you'd be interested in some daily vlogging next month!
