Aloha Sprinklerinos,
It's a fact I touch on every year, but I LOVE Autumn. It is by far and above my most favourite time of year and there is nothing about it that I resent.
(Warning :: Going to brag now- I took this photo myself!)
I feel like when the air crispens and the leaves turn orange, there is a sense of hope and a fresh start at things. I find myself making new routines, adhering to old traditions (pizza on a Saturday night and candles lit in the porch of an evening) and generally feeling like I have a new lease of life.
To me, Autumn starts when school starts and with Matt being a Teacher, our household calender still does follow the acedemic year. I quite like it.
Now that we have a little mini human in our lives, Autumn is all the more special and recently I have been thinking about things I am looking forward to doing as a family and alone and thought it might be fun to share them with you.
1. Walking Darcy in the big pram. We have a little grey easy-to-fold pushchair for chucking in the car but we also have a lovely big padded, cushy, cosy Silver Cross pram that I adore bundling Baby Glitter into and taking her for walks. I can't wait to pull on my brown boots, throw on a big coat, wrap her up in a woollen bobble hat and take her to the swings.
2. Wearing Purple. To me, Autumn is the season of purple! Purple nail polish, purple cardigans, purple eyeliner, everything. Bring it on!
3. Sunday Night TV. Is there anything quite like having a delicious hot dinner, lighting the fire, drawing the curtains, snuggling down in jogging bottoms and watching things like Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs? I don't think there is.
4. Craft Fayres. At this time of year there seem to be an abundance of things like Farmers Markets, Antique Shows and Craft Fayres. I really enjoy rummaging through dinky little ornaments or buying unusual cheeses to take home and treasure/devour.
5. The promise of Christmas. Let's face it, I'm already thinking about December the 25th and I'm not even ashamed. It's the 'most wonderful tiiiiimmmme, of the year', so Autumn is like an excited run up to it!
Those were just a few of my favourite things about Autumn but chances are, as I get wrapped up in crispy orange leaf fever, I will share more. Today I asked you on Twitter and Facebook what your favourite things were so there's a blog post to come on that too!
Do you love this time of year as much as I do?
Toodlepip!
xx
I adore Autumn. Or as I call it; pre-Christmas. :')
ReplyDeletei looove autumn so much! i like that it's cold enough to wear layers but not tooo cold, and the trees look so pretty and HALLOWEEN!! <3

What a gorgeous blog!!! Autumn has been my favourite time of year since I was a child. Just the smell of Autumn makes me happy!!
ReplyDeleteI I am exactly the same. People think I'm mental but I LOVE autumn and winter. I'm also someone who thinks purple is a autumn thing I have even prepared myself and have gone out and brought 2 purple dresses that can be worn with woolen tights and boots. I love it! I'm not one to be too hot so I like it when the weather begins to cool and I feel like I can breathe again. It doesn't hurt that my Birthday and Christmas just so happen to land in this part of the year. I'm so pleased to see someone else who loves this time of the year as much as I do :-D.

Autumn is my favourite month too! I love the fact that you can wrap up warm with scarfs but it isn't too cold that you freeze every time you step out the door. I think there are also so many pretty trends that you can follow in the autumn before you hit Christmas and then into the colder winter months!

Ahh I love Autumn, one of my favorite things about it is snuggling in my winter coat, scarf and boots! As well as sitting by the fire with a hot chocolate when it's raining outside, mmmm lush. You've got me all excited now aha x
ReplyDeleteAutumn is my favorite time of year too...everything about it is cozy and perfect!
ReplyDeleteautumn is my all-time favorite time of year. It just starts getting chilly (but not too chilly) and the leaves turn incredible colors, and it just makes me so happy. Nothing's better than "jumper" weather, except someone to share it with.
ReplyDeleteLovely post! :)
I get excited for Autumn because of Halloween. I love Halloween! Plus, Autumn is just so beautiful. I agree that it does give a sense of fresh starts and hope.
ReplyDeleteA Bite of Glamour
I love autumn, but now that I live in the southern part of the states (hotlanta), I miss my Midwest (Wisconsin) seasons... autumn and winter! It's warm here until the end of October and it makes me cry. Buy I start lighting my autumn soy candles next week. It's a very cosy time of year, isn't it?! I can't wait to take Zayn on walks in his stoller (we have a lovely Orbit G2) xx
ReplyDeleteLouise, I love your writing/talking style, so friendly and... cozy)
ReplyDeleteYes! I completely agree with the whole "routine" bit. I can't wait to wear riding boots and eyeshadow... But what I'm really most excited for is my advent calender.
ReplyDeleteSnap! I love Autumn too for all of these things. My favourite thing of all is going chestnut picking, I can't wait!

ReplyDeleteAutumn is definitely my favourite time of year- I love wearing big coats and boots (and I'm a knitter, so this is the time of my people...) I also much prefer A/W makeup, the colours suit me better. And this autumn, we'll be expecting a baby to arrive! It's all go!
ReplyDeleteAutumn is by far my favourite season, I love that it should be colder than summer but warmer than winter although our weather has been so up and down this year. I love all the leaves that fall, and walking even running through them. I love the smell in the air too. Im also thinking of december 25th and have already bought some bits eeeek!!!! gets earlier every year when i start buying. x x
ReplyDeleteIts my favourite too! Chunky scarves and jumpers, crisp sunny days (we always seem to have nicer weather in autum/winter) and the world just seems to have a magical light about it with all the oranges and browns :) love love love!
ReplyDeletePs. I have already started buying Christmas presents!
Eeeep! Xx

Autumn used to be my least favourite season until I started blogging. I think the excitement of layering knitwear and rich, jewel tones has set off a love affair x
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same Louise, kicking the leaves as you walk, knitwear, rich colours and halloween.. Autumn is just the best x
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I love autumn too, kicking the crunchy leaves, Christmas round the corner, snuggling up with hot chocolates and marshmallows and cream...

ReplyDeleteWish we had seasons in Los Angeles :/.
ReplyDeleteIt's either hot, or really hot.
It's lovely :) I made a similar September Aspirations post, referring to your 7 things movement I quietly enjoyed a lot and I'm looking forward for Autumn season as well. I have to admit, though, that I initially read - you're looking forward to walking BabyGlitter into the big PROM!, specially mentioning school and academic year... and thought - wait, isn't this a bit too soon to think about? :D my bad...

I love Autumn so much! I feel like the whole 'English' thing of having to go out and soak up every second of sun gets old quickly and all I want to do is have an excuse to sit inside and watch a few films while eating something hearty. How lazy am I?? Haha.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you don't have to worry about the whole 'I can't wear this outfit because I didn't shave my legs/do my fake tan' YAY for jeans and boots!!
www.jazzyleelbc.blogspot.co.uk
I also think purple is the perfect autumn color! The same goes with petrol... Love the autumn fashion colors!
