Baby Glitter At Two Years

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

It has become quite a tradition in the glitter household to take bi-annual 'proper' photos of Darcy. This week, whilst we still have a glimmer of Summer left, Matt, Clare (our most lovely family friend) and I drove to a local beauty spot and snapped away whilst Baby Glitter fluttered about enjoying all the attention.

As well as this fun little type-y print, I also save a 'clean' copy to have put into an album.

I am really treasuring these last days of August and all the little joys it brings with it. I was particularly pleased that I managed to check something off my Summer Bucket List.

Do you mark milestones with fun photography ideas? Tell me about it in the comments please.

30 Day Snap #8 | Happy Feet

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Confused as to what The 30 Day Snap is? Read THIS to be in the loop and join in.

30 Day Snap | Sprinkle of Glitter

Yesterday was a shoes with no socks day and we couldn't have been happier about it. I'm not normally one for summer and you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be complaining if we have a heatwave but so far, I'm in love with all this sunshine.

If you are taking part in this project, tell me below! What have you done today?

The 30 Day Snap

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

With 9 days to go, I'm already thinking ahead to June and dreaming up ideas and new features. I love it.

30 Day Snap Sprinkleofglitter

Every day, for 30 days, I will snap one photograph of my day and upload it here. I will still be uploading all my regular content too so you'll have twice as much to read and (hopefully) enjoy. I would also absolutely love it if you were to join me in this challenge too. If you don't have a blog, you could do it on Facebook or even instagram/twitter. The world is your online oyster.

I think this will be so fun because it will allow us to really look for the lovely things in our days, stretch our creativity and maybe even expand our photography skills. It will also be really nice for the Sprinkle of Glitter community to have a nosey at each others lives and make new blog friends.

The rules are simple. Upload one photograph every day. It doesn't have to be a work of art, it doesn't have to be of anything magnificent. A large proportion of mine will no doubt be of little things happening around my house, since that's where I spend 90% of my time. You don't need to use a state of the art camera and you don't need to get worked up, you just have to take and upload one picture a day. If you would like to write a little bit about it or tell the story behind it then go for it. If you think an image says a thousand words then that's your call too. Easy!

30 Day Snap Sprinkleofglitter

I have made this little button for those of you that fancy taking part and I hope by letting you know about this a week in advance that you have some time to get yourself together. If you're anything like me, you like a little while to get used to new commitments- even if they are just for fun! You are welcome to display this button on your blog and link it back here so people know what you are doing but it isn't compulsory. You are also welcome to take today's main image if you would like to do a little intro post, but again, it's not compulsory. I would ask though that if you do, you credit this blog for it.

So, I would like to 'tag' all of you reading to take part. Hopefully you will spread the word further and even more people will document their lives, expand their creativity and learn new camera skills- Rargh I'm EXCITED!!

In particular I would like to tag El from AThriftyMrs (since she started this whole brain wave), Marie from PickleBeanBooks (but only if she is feeling well enough with her tough pregnancy) and Zoe from Zoella because her photography is to die for!

What do you say? Are you up for the challenge? If you are, see you on June 1st!

Blue Skies and Happy Days

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I've had a big sexy canon camera now for almost a year and over that time I have really grown in confidence with photography. I love taking snaps of every day life and have gone from taking only posed smiley pictures to capturing the little moments of life that show real emotion and evoke real memories.

Recently I have been looking through my files and deciding which pictures I'm going to have printed onto canvasses for my wall. I currently have one lonely canvass of a 7 month old Darcybird and I have decided that each month I will treat our wall to a couple more. Over time I want to have a collection of all the things and people we love. Like a scrapbook of our shared life on our walls.

Sprinkle of Glitter Wall Art Decor
(Here's me harping on about how I capture the moment and actually Zoe took this photograph for me. I like it because even though it doesn't show our faces, or even my head, you can see a lot of love and bonding in it. It was taken last summer on a really hot day at an amusement park/safari in the SouthWest. It was such a brilliant weekend and I hope I have so many more like it this year.)

Sprinkle of Glitter Wall Art Decor
(This is Matt and Darcy in Liverpool looking round one of the new museums. I love that neither of them are looking into the lens and that we have such a good shot of Darcy's profile. It changes so much as she grows. I also think Matt looks unbearably handsome in this. Can you believe I got to marry that man?!?)

Sprinkle of Glitter Wall Art Decor
(Another shot from Zoe- gad zukes I love that woman. She is literally the only person I know that if I said, 'Please will you photograph my child's Christening/a party/a day/a wedding etc', she would get it spot on and exactly to my taste. She has such great style.
I love this image because it captures so much love. Love from me and the love of Darcy enjoying it. In a really OCD way, I also really like that our clothes match and the yellow of the little train we were on matches. It also brings back memories from a really happy day with Zoe, her brother and my sister.)

This month I will be ordering all three photographs. I use a site called Photobox which I have always had fantastic service from. When you sign up (for free, with your email address) you are given a credit for 40-50 free prints which I thought was good. I had a load of baby pictures printed so that I could give them out to extended family who hadn't seen her and weren't overly familiar with modern technology- Auntie Bridget, I'm looking at you. They also have an offer where if you recommend a friend to them and that friend signs up (and then they get the free prints) then you are given credits for a free photobook. I recommended quite a few of my personal facebook friends and now have 3 free photobooks and they have a load of prints! YAY!

If you would like me to recommend you and help me get a photobook, leave your email address below and I will over the next day or so. TO BE VERY CLEAR- you do not have to do this AT ALL and I'm not being paid to ask or any of that business. I just like the little free photobooks you can make! Haha! I keep making little baby books for Darcy or books of the cat or of pretty pictures. So, this isn't a big hoo-har, just a thrifty woman asking if you wanna work together to make the most of an offer. Of course, you can just sign up off your own back and get your own prints. There, you know all the facts now! I don't want anyone to feel like they are being swizzed in any way. We're a community round here and communities stick together.

Do you take the time to print your photography successes? Do you love internet freebies as much as me!?

Kids, Cats and Cameras

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

I should probably say now that I am a total camera novice. I was given (thank you Dad!) a swish Canon last year and little by little I have been learning a more about it.

After trawling through photography tip blogs (very addicted to those at the moment), I discovered the ISO setting on my camera. From what I have learnt this weekend, by increasing your ISO number, you allow more light into your camera and thus get a much brighter photograph.

I played around and some were too bright, some too dark and some, just right.

Cat and Baby Photography

This picture was the jewel in the crown and I wanted to share it because it's of my two babies, Mindy and Darcy. Baby Glitter wasn't actually meant to be in frame but I'm glad of the happy accident. Gad zukes I love my little needy things- I think I mummy the kitty as much as the baby!

I'm really loving spending some relaxed time with my camera and trying out new things, it's rewarding to challenge myself a bit. This is a shot I'll definitely be printing and framing for the home.

Do you ever have mini photography sessions? Any tips for canons or phones?
