Aloha Sprinklerinos,
I should probably say now that I am a total camera novice. I was given (thank you Dad!) a swish Canon last year and little by little I have been learning a more about it.
After trawling through photography tip blogs (very addicted to those at the moment), I discovered the ISO setting on my camera. From what I have learnt this weekend, by increasing your ISO number, you allow more light into your camera and thus get a much brighter photograph.
I played around and some were too bright, some too dark and some, just right.
This picture was the jewel in the crown and I wanted to share it because it's of my two babies, Mindy and Darcy. Baby Glitter wasn't actually meant to be in frame but I'm glad of the happy accident. Gad zukes I love my little needy things- I think I mummy the kitty as much as the baby!
I'm really loving spending some relaxed time with my camera and trying out new things, it's rewarding to challenge myself a bit. This is a shot I'll definitely be printing and framing for the home.
Do you ever have mini photography sessions? Any tips for canons or phones?

ReplyDeleteHi, i'm a photographer, i know i'm only 17, but i've had many paid jobs where people have just heard about my work. I use a canon slr, and i wouldnt mind giving you tips. Would you like me to do a blogging post about photography tips?
ReplyDeleteAlso, i recommend focusing on the cleanness of the shot and look at the rule of thirds and train your eye, to look at things from unusual angles. Get to the cat's perspective of things, crawl on the floor, really focus on things and blur the background. Also become good friends with photoshop, not to cheat with your photos but to edit and blur and use simple smudging tools :) Hope I helped, also get back to me on doing a blog post.

maybe you could check it out, it would make my year! :) xx If you're ISO is too high and you have got good lighting, then your image will be noisy - which basically means it will be grainy, hope that helps :) x
I've been trying to get a lot better with my camera though I not sure photographing my cat is the best idea because shes never still unless shes asleep, haha :) xx

Such a lovely photo! Ive found some great photography tips on Pinterest xx
ReplyDeleteI got my Canon early last year and I'm still learning. I learned about ISO a few months ago and I was beyond excited. It really makes a difference doesn't it?!?! I still need to get used to changing the setting depending on the situation. Most of the time I leave it as is. Thankfully I still produce decent photos. I need to learn more and get comfortable with my camera though. It is an awesome camera and I don't seem to be doing it justice. Lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo by the way. Definitely worth sharing! :)

ReplyDeletePro cameras can be so intimidating, especially Canons i find, but it's all worth it once you know how to operate these weirdo lens machines!

ReplyDeleteLucy Loves To Blog
I got a Canon EOS 600D for my christmas and I am trying to get to grips with it. Digital SLRs are a bit intimidating to begin with but Im sure I will work it out someday. Photographer friends have recommended buying a Macro lens which is apparently a great all rounder :)
ReplyDeletehttp://generouslyfrugal.blogspot.co.uk/
The only issue with increasing the ISO is that if you go too high, it will create a 'grainy' looking image. Try to balance it out by working with the aperture (f numbers). A high f number (16 and up) will create a wide depth of field (objects further away will be in focus and objects closer will also be in focus) but the image will be darker, whilst a low f number will focus more on one object and the rest will be blurry (a shallow depth of field) but will create a lighter image :)
