Beauty Review || EOS Lip Balm

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Ever since EOS lip balms burst onto the scene a few years back, I have been wanting to try one. Intrigued by the shape, the amazing claims of super soft lips from the blends of oils, vitamins and butters I was one eager beaver.

Fortunately, I was recently gifted some (by my lovely friend Marie and also by some very kind viewers in America) and have been using them everyday. So, I'm now ready to share my thoughts with you.

EOS vs Balmi Lip Balm

EOS vs Balmi Lip Balm

I'll keep this short and sweet.

I like EOS Lip Balms. I enjoy the packaging and the shape of the balm pleases me. The scent is pleasant and for the amount of product you get, I think the American prices are superb (I have seen them in Target for $2.99, which I think is about £1.80). However, since they are hard to come by in the United Kingdom, prices are a little crazy. I have seen this particular flavour -Strawberry Sorbet- retail for £13.99 on Amazon. Crazy! I also recall seeing these in the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar in Liverpool but didn't note the price.

What I will say though is that I have been spoilt by another product, the Balmi. Reviewed last year HERE, I am yet to find a lip moisturiser that I love more. I'll be pretty sad when I run out of my current stash.

So, to sum up, I think the EOS Lip Balm is great, I'm happy and grateful for the ones I have, I will definitely use all of the product. However, if I were in a shop and both the EOS and the Balmi were on the shelf, I think I'd reach for the latter.

What do you think? Have you tried both? What do you do to keep your lips soft and smooshy?

Toodlepip!

xx

Soft Lips is really good as well.

  2. I keep it simple and just use Vaseline on my lips. Most lip balms I try I don't like the taste of and/or doesn't stay on long enough. Great review, thanks Louise!

  6. I live in the United States, so the EOS lip balms are available to me easily and I have them in, like, every flavor. But recently I have realised that they just are not working well to keep my lips soft and full of moisture. I dont know if anyone else has had this problem or if it is just me but I do just use vaseline on my lips now. :)

  7. Omgosh it's so expensive in the UK!!!! It's like that here in Japan with any American drugstore products. Revlon lip butters are 1500yen ($15) each!! I would looove to try the EOS lip balms! I've always wanted to try it since pretty much every YouTube beauty guru has one :)

  8. I've always wanted to try and eos lip balm. I find gently scrubbing away dead skin from my lips after I brush using my toothbrush helps keep my lips smooth.

  9. I havent tried the Balmi ones (dont think they sell them in Canada). I kind of like eos partly because of the scents..and tastes, people still enjoy that right? But on the whole, it's mainly just the novelty of a spherical lip balm. I guess it semi moisturizes but really I feel like after about 5 minutes you have to reapply again. Not my favorite, but if your in a crazy awkward situation (with a girl), whip this bad gal out and you will find the other unfortunate citizen will have a LONG story of 'how I always wanted to get one but just never got around to it'. Saved me on more than a few occasions!
    Always a pleasure Louise!! X

PS. Sorry for the ranty and shall i say 'passionate'(crazy) response. ;)

  17. I've been wanting a EOS lip balm for almost three years I think, but the prices are WAY too crazy to get it over here (Belgium). I really like the packaging and when I go to New York in September, I might go nuts and finally buy a few :D they are the cutest little things! My favorite lip balm at the moment (or rather the past year) is Burt's Bees.

    Great post!

  20. Such. Strange coincidence, I literally just picked up one of the Balmi ones in Boots yesterday. I got a square shaped one and I love, love, love it! I love that I can put it on my keys and won't keep losing it! It's was £4.99 which for me was an expensive lip balm, but for the novelty of the cool shape and keyring tub, it wasn't too bad :) I haven't tried the EOS though! xx

  50. I have the mint (blue) EOS, Which I quite like. The smell is unbelievable (in a good way!), but as far as moisturizing goes, it's a little too dry on it's own. :) I've experienced 'white' lines on my lips when using it, but I get dead skin on my lips easily, so that isn't the balms fault, haha. ;) In Denmark it's a little less than £9, which is a bit too pricey, even though it's organic! xx

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've only ever tried the EOS and since I live in America I'm pretty spoiled because I get them so easily. I have the raspberry flavor and I absolutely love it, it smells great and feels amazing on my lips. I agree though, for in the UK it seems way too pricey for what you get.

  94. Hey Louise,

I'm really glad you did this review on the EOS lip balm. I think you're the only one that's said it's not all the hype and I totally agree with you. I've given it multiple tries in many different scents but still didn't think the formulation is all that great. The EOS ones do moisturize, but I feel like my lips get drier after, which forces me to constantly put more on, which totally defeats the purpose of a lip moisturizer!

If you are feeling adventurous, I would suggest trying the Nivea ones that are not the lip butters. I think the Nivea chapsticks are up there with the Fresh lip treatments except it's one third of the price. These ones keep the moisture in for a long time. I usually apply maybe twice a day and can definitely feel my lips feeling softer and more moisturized without feeling the need to constantly apply more on.

Have a wonderful day with your family!

  118. I love to use a brand called Savex. I'm sure it's probably just a copy of carmex or blister, but I find this one works way better! It was only $4.00, which in Australia is a steal! They only had coconut flavour when I was at the shop but I'm pretty sure they do other flavours. It goes the mile as well, I've had mine for MONTHS now and I've only used about 1 fifth of the pot. it comes in pots of 7 grams and fits well in the palm of your hand. All you need to do is put a tiny bit on and it completely rids your lips of chapping in 5 mins. I find it great to put on 5 min before lipstick as it gives it a smoother finish. I'm not sure if you have it in England, but I would be happy to send some over :)

  120. I have wanted to try the eos lip balm for ages! However I've heard reviews saying they're waxy, so I'm not sure whether to spend the money to get one, might just stick to my trusty Vaseline! :)

  124. I tried EOS Sweet Mint Lip Balm for the first time today and it became an instant favorite. I was that happy with it, I used it as my kick-off post for my new blog: http://livelaughloveblogforever.wordpress.com/ Originally, I was going to launch the blog this Sunday with my first DIY tutorial. I guess the itch to blog played a factor in blogging early, but it took a fantastic product to make it happen.
