Happy 4th Of July!

Aloha Sprinklerinos,

Since blogger analytics kindly informs me that a big ol' chunk of my readers live in the land of amazing food and drive-thru movies, it only seems right to recognise your special days.

If you celebrate it, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

If you don't, let's all enjoy the sparkles and be glad for all the Americans who are having a great day today!!

Tell me in the comments what you do to celebrate, I'd love to learn more about your traditions.

    1. That definitely sums it up-- to celebrate our freedom our whole country likes to eat a ton and blow things up in the sky ^.^
Some people celebrate by having gigantic parties, but my family has just been staying at home together, sometimes we blow up small fireworks in our street :F

  5. Aww that's so sweet. I am at my parent's house. We are having a cookout with sausage, hot dogs, and burgers, as well as salads, fruit salad, salt potatoes, and my homemade chocolate cake. Some family and friends are coming over. We want to go swimming, if it doesn't rain! Then I am going to my town's biggest park to see the fireworks when it gets dark. It's always just a fun day to spend with family and friends.

  11. I live near an american air base in Norfolk, so every 4th July they have a massive event, like the fairs you see in american films, it's a great night out, and all of the Americans are so friendly and welcoming :) Happy 4th xxx

  12. What's Fourth of July without a pool party, a cook out and some fireworks? Today we can't do any of that though because of the torrential down pour outside. We're watching National Treasure instead haha I love that sparkly graphic! xx

  14. Every year my town holds a parade where people decorate bikes, baby carriages, wagons, pets, cars, ect. The parade route leads to a local park where they set up food stands, pony rides, pie eating contests, and games for the kids. It's all great fun! My favorite part of the fourth is seeing what everyone is wearing! My favorite are jean shorts with american flags printed on them!

Hope you're having a lovely day!

  20. 4th of July is the day that feels exactly like summer to me. We have fireworks, bbg's, watermelon, sunshine, no school, no work, and just a big gathering of people wearing red white and blue its actually pretty fun but this year in florida (where I live) it poured rain all day so no festivities were to be had- except the endless amount of food. But I hope others enjoyed the day because it is a fun holiday to celebrate in america.

  21. My family and I celebrate the Fourth by going out on the boat usually. We take a good ol' American lunch, filled with fried chicken, watermelon (maybe we'll bring other fruit but you must have watermelon), and a bunch of chips... or I guess crisps... We usually hang out on the Chesapeake Bay all day, spending the time inner-tubing and swimming, and then at night we make our way over to the spot on the bay where are town does fireworks. I agree with another commenter, the Fourth of July really does feel like the epitome of Summer. All of the cliches in American movies about Summer actually happen on the Fourth, which is really cool in my book.

  22. Actually my cousin's husband's birthday is on July,4 so normally my family gets together with that family and we have a big barbeque, play in the pool with a few games of marco-polo with my 8-year-old and 3 year old cousins, tanning by the pool with a couple drinks and a very festive and summery berry salad , having some cake and when it gets dark and the younger kids had their little nap to recuperate from the long day of lounging and swimming we all camp out in the front yard and play with fireworks until we all smell like smoke and are covered in mosquito bites. It is really the embodiment of summer.

  26. Thanks Louise!! I didn't have to work (yay for random days off in the middle of the week!) so I slept in before having a little cookout with my family before meeting up with some friends to play card games and watch fireworks with. And, of course, a holiday celebrating America's independence wouldn't be complete without a trip to IHOP for some midnight pancakes :)

  28. I just want someone to make a 4th of July song to the tune of "Independent Women" by Destiny's Child.

All the USA's that Independent throw your hands up at me, all the USA's that truly feel me. . .

  29. Oh and the one tradition that sticks with my family is Grandma's BBQ and WATERMELON. All of the ice cold watermelon you can eat while trying not to melt in the Texas heat, then when it gets dark letting the kids light sparklers, but they end up being too scared so the adults just play with them :)
Lots of people usually celebrate with lots of alchy-hol.
