It may come as no surprise to a lot of you that I am a fat woman. Let's call a spade a spade. I am plus size, curvy, chubby, cuddly, volumptuous, fat. I use none of these terms in a degrogatory fashion and take non of them as an insult. I am what I am.
I'm not going to shout from the rooftops, 'I'm proud to be chunky!', but nor am I going to hide away and feel ashamed of myself or dirty in some fashion. Reasons people are overweight and what should be done about it are not for this post, nor is any debate as to whether I'm promoting obesity (I've had that one before- I'm not. I want you to be healthy and happy). This post and video is to say- If you are larger, for whatever reason, you can wear nice clothes. If you are unhappy with a part of your body, take comfort in the knowledge that a LOT of other people are too and it's not as big a deal as it feels in your head.
I would consider myself a glamourous person (and modest too haha), but I am fully aware of my flaws. I have a funny blue-ish lump on my inner calf of my left leg from where I was abused as a child, I have cellulite on my thighs from where I have eaten more calories than I burn, I have a wobbly tummy from where I grew an entire human being, I have tiny red dots on my upper arms (I think this may be an allergy thing), I have naturally rosey cheeks that often show through foundation. Saying all that though, I have a cinched in waist, great (in my opinion) boobies, fun hair, both my legs, both my arms and am able to do and dress as I please- a luxury many women are not afforded.
Let's set aside our body hangups for 5 minutes (literally in your head, put them in a bag and pop that bag outside) and think about what we do like. Now remember it. You're alright. It's only flesh and bones, it's not the end of your life. You are a beautiful woman.
What do you love to wear? Has this video/blog post been of any use to you? Tell me in the comments if you would like to see more of this kind of thing.

I love your attitude to this. You do look amazing, and it's great to see that being embraced! People are beautiful regardless of their dress size, and this just proves it.

I love the one with floral dress, suits you really well! :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post. Made me smile :) I'm a similar shape to you and so what if I've got wobbly thighs and won't go anywhere without something covering my wobbly upper arms, I have a tiny waist and great boobs so accentuate them! Love all your clothes, you look amazing in them all x
ReplyDeleteThe peachy cream Ted Baker dress is gorgeous! It isdefinitely my favorite look. All of the looks are so simple and fancy at the same time. I think your style is.. clever, for lack of a better word. I love that you find things that you love on yourself and embrace it without trying to please everyone else. Clever and admirable. :)

I am an emotional wreck here! You are such an inspiration, Louise. Seeing how you embrace everything that you are is just such an inspirational thing to do. I watched the video with a huge grin plastered on my face because you looked beautiful and it just radiated from every part of you. It wasn't the clothes, (although admittedly these pieces are B-E-A-U-tiful!) it was your personality and your confidence all rolled into one. I look forward to your Autumn look book!! Much love xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat's so weird about me? || Heather
First time posting! I for one love these kinds of videos! I went through some crappy parts of life and gained 100lbs (not joking) and have been hiding this new body under baggy shirts and cringing at sizes of pants in dressing rooms. Now as I'm struggling slowly to work off what was so easy to pack on, your videos give me a new confidence as to feeling good in my body as it is now. And that I can still feel sexy and cute and feel good in clothes that suit my body. I absolutely love your videos and even though you've never met me, I consider you a good friend!
ReplyDeleteLouise you are an inspiration to young girls like me who have confidence issues. You and baby Darcy make me smile every time I watch your videos
ReplyDeleteI love you Louise! You're so great.
ReplyDeleteLouise, you are such an inspiration! I've not worn a skirt since I was maybe 11 or 12, and today at the age of (almost) 21 I wore a skirt for the first time since!
ReplyDeleteI've been a size 18-20 fairly recently and started losing weight in March. Right now I'm a 16 in bottoms and 14 on top, and my slight slimming down along with your inspiration has really helped me to become so much more confident, so thank you so much!
you are so beautiful louise & i love how happy you always seem & this happiness is just so contagious :) You are FABULOUS <3
ReplyDeleteAh this post was so amazing! Louise you are so amazing! I absolutely love your style, always enjoy watching your videos and reading your posts. I've battled with weight issues and eating for a large part of my life and just recently have I started to adapt to a very similar thought process. I just think you put it so wonderfully.

I love all the outfits you have paired together and I especially love the green pendant in the 3rd pic, it is may favourite sea green colour and I would have bought it if it wasn't sold out. i do really think the ted baker dress in the last pic suits and compliments you very well!
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing about body image in such a fresh way. It is possible to just focus on enjoying the clothes and loving yourself while also accepting all of yourself. I am a plus sized girl myself and my body image and lack of self esteem has taken away all enjoyment of "fashion" or even pretty clothes and how to feel good in them. Posts like these are so important because I'm not seeing enough of positive messages embracing all body types or even enough plus sized women in the blogosphere. Everytime I look at these lookbooks on youtubes or these posts it makes me feel better and hopeful. Thank you so much for that :)
ReplyDeleteI always love the things that you wear, you know how to dress for yourself and always look stunning! xxx

You look amazing Louise and I think every woman should feel great regardless of their size or figure! You're an absolute inspiration to all females out there that you shouldn't be ashamed about what you look like :-) I've struggles with eating disorders for ages now and, even though I will never change my mind about how 'fat' I am, your words and confidence do make me feel better! xx

ReplyDeleteI am weeping buckets right now Louise. You are so inspiring to me. People around me don't always make me feel comfortable with the way I am but I always turn to you and your videos and you make me feel happy again. From watching your videos I know you've had such a tough life and yet you still manage to have such a positive outlook on life. I find you utterly astounding! Reading what you wrote in your description box on your video about Zoe also made me cry. You're both so lucky to have each other, you have such a perfect friendship, which I am so happy you have. You deserve all kinds of happiness plus millions more. I love you so much Louise xxxx

I've always had people make little comments about my weight, and it is so refreshing the way you talk about your weight Louise and how you don't let it bother you, you completely own it and look beautiful doing so! ReplyDeleteI loved everything about this!! Thank you so much for posting it :-) your beautiful and I'm glad I know you :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your attitude towards body image. None of this "thigh gap" nonsense, I wish the girls who aim for such things would take a moment to read this and change their attitude. I also love both of your dresses and they look really flattering on you. I love the floral skirt too, the length looks great on you, Louise!

ReplyDeleteLouise, you are beautiful. You have amazing style & have inspired me to not care what people think. I usually hide in my clothes as I am a curvier woman & I got bullied quite a lot about my size in school but you only live once & I want to feel beautiful while wearing fun summer dresses or chuck on a skirt & not have to put on a pair of tights to cover up. This is such an amazing post & I absolutely adore the denim skirt (:

This post and video are both fantastic! I am not a curvy girl, in fact I am very skinny, but this does not mean I don't have insecurities too. You are very inspiring and I would love to see more videos and blog posts like these. xx
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mypetitecloset.blogspot.co.uk/
First off, I think you look amazing and I am so happy to see a curvy woman who is confident in herself. You do an amazing job at pairing clothes together (I am piss poor at this, lol). Secondly, I noticed that you wear a lot of skirts and I was wondering if you ever have issues with chafing? If so how do you deal with them? I am a plus sized girl and I love wearing skirts but I always have chafing issues :(
ReplyDeleteLouise seeing you smile makes me smile :D Love you girl for bringing happiness to o life ♥ Kisses honey!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE how as a bigger woman you wear skirts and dresses! No woman should ever hide only behind pants because they either don't like their legs or don't feel confident wearing skirts because of their weight. It makes you look so feminine and gorgeous! I've been trying to get my mom into more colors, prints and even some skirts and dresses and she's still a bit iffy about it. But I won't give up! You Louise are a true inspiration, women really CAN wear whatever their heart pleases and should never get caged into a certain type of clothing. You are amazing, Louise!

I love all these looks and I think you have such a great attitude towards your body. Its so healthy and really such a great role model for any younger girls out there watching or reading. Anyone and everyone has body hang-ups but its about being confident and loving yourself for your good parts and for who you are on the inside not the out. After all, I'd rather have fantastic friends and be truly happy than lonely, dull and miserable with a bangin' bod. Life's too short to be hung up on the way you look, we should be having fun!

For a while now I've felt really bad about my body and your video/post really helped. I feel much more comfortable about my body now and i can't wait to go find some cute summer outfits myself :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfits in the video, so perfect for summer. This post is brilliant, I love your attitude to body image. A few years ago I put on a lot of weight thanks to a thyroid issue, having been a dancer as a kid this sudden change in body shape took a lot out of me, not helped by some people in my life constantly commenting. Your videos and posts over the last few years really helped me realise that I could buy new clothes and be happy with my new body. I have lost some of the weight now but more importantly I discovered the things I love about my body, and they're the bits I focus on when choosing my outfits. Thanks Louise, you're an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI used to have these red bumps on my hands too, it's not an allergly, it's a thing that comes inside, umh i can't put it in english but it's not allergy. For me very well helped that you , when you shower then you rub this spot on your hands with a hard sponge or something and then later you put on baby oil or lotion, hope it was helpful <3 xx

Louise, you're such an inspiration to so many people and it's so nice to see an outfit post from someone with a similar body posture to mine :)
ReplyDeleteLooking HAWT Louise! I love that you embrace colour because it really suits you and you look so wonderfully summery in these photos.

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely message! You're a brilliant role model.
ReplyDeleteFor the bumps on your arms have you tried a body brush? I used it every other day for a couple of months and my arms are now smoothy smooth - bumps be gone!
LOVE the last two outfits, they're so pretty! You look gorgeous Louise :) xx

Adore your fashion sense Louise and your thoughts on body confidence were lovely to read :) I've always thought that bodies are just a case for what's inside; it's the personality and mind that truly count. Doesn't mean we shouldn't spend our time dressing up though, that's the fun bit!

I love all these clothes Louise - especially the floral dress! I think your inspirational with your body confidence!

You are an inspiration. Everybody should have little more Louise thinking in their life and then we'd all be just a bit more excepting of ourselves, making all in all the world a sunnier place! :) xxxx
ReplyDeleteYou're such an inspiration Louise :) I wish more people had your way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post and the video you done too.. It's so refreshing to see videos/posts of people the same kind of size/shape as me showing you CAN wear really nice clothes. There's nothing worse than wearing frumpy, hide-away kind of clothes that actually make you look bigger than you are and show off you're worst bits!
I'd love to see more posts like this in the future :) xxx
Louise! You look absolutely divine! Your outfits are stunning. You have a fantastic fashion taste. You inspire me to be a little braver with my outfits. You are very inspiring to me.

ReplyDeleteWow- I watch a lot of youtube videos and read a lot of blogs but I don't normally post comments. However this video and post has just inspired me to go on to asos and pick out clothes I would normally shy away from because I feel I am too fat to be wearing dresses skirts etc. Louise you are beautiful and you have really changed my perspective on my own body! Thank you so much xxx
ReplyDeleteLouise your confidence is contageous! I've had many a body issue in my 22 years mainly because of scarring. After reading this it's just made me re-evaluate. I like cake, I don't like treadmills, and so what?! So thanks. I'm now going to go on holiday and rock my bikini and not care what other people may think (hopefully).
ReplyDeleteI also just started a blog after following you and Zoe for a very long time. Also alot of love for that last dress! xo

Louise, you are ever so inspiring. I would looooove to meet you! You seem so lovely and nice. Zoey is very lucky to have you as a friend!

i love this lookbook, it made me laugh how you were walking in the heel for the last one!:)you're so cute and i think you should do a baby glitter lookbook because that will be unbarely cute!

It's so refreshing to see Louise, whenever I read any of your posts I can't help but smile. Your attitude to life is genuinely contagious and everyone should have a Louise in their life!
ReplyDeleteI get the same thing on my upper arms, never been able to diagnose what it is. The sun makes it better though so it's always worse in the winter. Glad i'm not the only one!
You're looking great and I love all these sweet summery colours you're wearing. Us mamas are allowed to be glamourous too :)

:/ I wasn't finished! XD Did I even posted at all?? Anyway, thanks for your videos. Somehow you've became inspirational to me. I'd also like to excuse myself for a comment left on youtube (on this video) as I was on sleeping pills and I can't remember what and how I wrote....don't tell anyone :B (crickets).
ReplyDeleteBye!

You are SO inspirational Louise, people like you should be on TV and go into schools to promote that you don't have to be a size zero to look good and it's not always the way. Baby Glitter is very lucky to have you as her mummy, you are so lovely and genuine and I hope (and am very sure) that she grows up as great and lovely as you! Keep doing what you do best, always enjoy reading your posts :')
ReplyDeleteLots of love

You look gorgeous, Louise! I see that some people even said you should consider modeling, I'm with them on that one. You look so photogenic in all of these! I'm also chubby, and I've always had a self image problem. I think as I grow older I get better, especially with someone as lovely as my boyfriend by my side that tells me every single day that I am beautiful and he loves me. Surrounding yourself with loving and warm people like that really helps.

ReplyDeleteOh Lou, we love you :) I like wearing dresses but whenever I do my thighs rub together and come out in a rash (even if I'm wearing tights). Does anyone know where I can get little shorts to wear under my dresses to stop this? But not shapewear, its sooo uncomfy.

love this post and would love to see more of these / more videos! you're quite the inspiration, ya know ;) I also have many things about my body that I'm insecure about, but I'm also coming to the point where I just don't give a flipping **** and am gonna wear whatever the heck I want :) we focus on some things way too much and sometimes they go completely unnoticed by the outside world - what a waste of time for us to fret over these insecurities or imperfections. keep the inspiration coming, louise! :) xoxo!

Thank you for those thoughts! I needed some perspective back in my life and they did just that - reminding me that your boy literally is just skin and bones. There's so much more to me, and you, and everyone, than just what the eyes see.
ReplyDeleteSo well written and lovely - and you look beautiful in all your outfits too!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the first one with the stripy top and yellow skirt :)
You have such a positive, inspiring attitude - it's infectious!

ReplyDeleteYou are such a lovely lady Louise! This post was wonderful and many people (men and women) could learn to remember these things. No one is perfect but if you can't love yourself how do you ever expect someone else to love you. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have very similar body shapes and size so I was so pleased when you put together this video and blog post....although my bank balance not so happy as I went and bought most of the ASOS bits you showed :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise

What you wrote at the end of your post made me a little bit weepy Louise!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for being such a beautiful and confident lady, and giving me a little more confidence in myself!! <3
Gosh it's so wonderful to hear how confident you are, and you look so beautiful in all your outfits. I often feel under pressure to look 'cool' (like I stepped out of the Urban Outfitters website) but I just don't work 'cool' being a curvy girl (and existing over 3 different sizes like you, SO annoying right?! You look so pretty and this post has really inspired me to embrace my inner pretty. I'm gonna give it a go! Take care.
