Aloha Sprinklerinos,
Another day, another review- I'm on a roll eh?!
I bought these Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains a few days ago from Superdrug for £5.99 each (an introductory offer as soon they will be £7.99) and already LOVE them.
I was pleased as punch with the Revlon Lip Butters (I now own even more and will be featuring my new ones soon), so I had quite a lot of faith in Revlon bringing out another great lip product.
I have heard many liken these nourishing little pencils of colour to the Clinique Chubby Sticks, but as I haven't tried them, I can't really compare. What I can say though is that I have tried other 'balm sticks' of a similiar ilk and never really got excited by them. This was either because they lacked pigmentation OR dried my lips.
Well, these are the opposite- hoo-ray. They have fabulous colour payoff (so much so that when I was on Skype to ZoeChummy and wearing 'Lovesick', she thought I was wearing one of my MAC Lipsticks) and leave my lips feeling soft and juicy and not at all flakey dry.
I'm not usually one for lip swatches because it's weird to see my own mouth in such detail (so please don't point and laugh), but I felt like 'mouth shots' would do this product a lot more justice than regular skin swipes.
The staying power of these are great. This is probably where the 'stain' part comes in and I'm really happy about this. I had reservations that something so nourishing and hydrating would wear off very quickly. My Lip Butters are gorgeous but I do have to reapply fairly regularly, unlike these.
The packaging is just right for me and reflects the price point well. Not crazy flashy, but pretty and something I'm confident to pull out of my handbag. Also, you won't need to sharpen these, as you simply twist the silver bottom and more product twirls up.
There are 7 colours of these available in the UK (but more for our lucky American friends) and whilst I am in town tomorrow I may just pick up a couple more (so that spending ban went well!).
Do these Balm Stains entice you as much as they do me? Have my up close lips scared you off Sprinkle of Glitter?!
Toodlepip!
xx
Lovely review Louise! And thank you for the "mouth shots" they were the deciding factor for me. I have to get my hands on some of these lip balm stains!
ReplyDeleteA Bite of Glamour
I love those! My favorite one is 'Crush' so bright and pretty
ReplyDeleteive heard so many amazing reviews of these little beauties definitely need to add some to my make up bag :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great review! I must try these. I love lip stains since they usually last for quite a long time. I really must try these, I am going to Walgreen's tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm glad to hear that these don't disappoint as I have been really looking forward to trying them and have Rendezvous in the post on it's way to me.
ReplyDeleteGlad you did do the mouth shots as I think they give a much better idea of what to expect - hand swatches don't give a good idea of how they'd look on so I can never be sure about a product with just those.

im very excited to get my hands on these!
ReplyDeleteI love these..I own a few myself as I live in the US! I think that they are more like the Tarte Lipsurgence than the chubby sticks!
ReplyDeleteI really love the third (last) color on you! So peachy yet so natural. Gorgeous colors all around though!
ReplyDeleteTake care!

Great review, Louise. I'm planning on going to the store tomorrow and this is just one more thing I can get while I'm there. One more thing I really don't need. :P I'm very excited to try these out, though. Thanks again for the review. xx
ReplyDeleteI heard so many good things about them but unfortunately they aren't available here in Germany. I love the Clinique chubby sticks, the quality and the colours are adorable. <3
ReplyDeleteI had an orange moment (blame Zoe!) and bought both the Rendezvous balm stain and the Tutti Fruiti lip butter (along with the Candy Apple, but that's irrelevant), I have pretty dark lips so I found that in order to make the balm stain stand out more I could just layer it with the lip butter! Works wonderfully and seems to last longer (I am notoriously bad at keeping a lip colour longer than ten minutes...). x
ReplyDeleteThese look so absolutely lovely! I think I might have to snag myself one or too - they look so lovely and actually like lipsticks on the lips! Think I might have to invest...

ooo im trying not to spend so much this month but they just look too irasistabel, think i may have to pop in boots today hehe. and i see why you decided to do lip instead of hand swotches, they make your lips look full and lushous so no need to worry xx
ReplyDeleteII take it the spending ban you imposed on shopping for things for yourself didn't last long then? : )Nice colours though x
ReplyDeleteWe love all of your reviews, they're so fun to read! P.S love both shades. :-) xo

Ah rendezvous looks lush! I can't wait to get my hands on some of these. Great job on the mouth shots as I always seem to look a tad deformed and then shy away from them haha but you have done a perfect job!

I love the lip shots and think they should be in ALL lip product blog posts, I don't think seeing them on the skin really helps! And you lips look gorge so no worries :P These sound really lovely, I was considering getting a Clinique Chubby Stick but think I'll try these first as they sound lovely and much cheaper! xx

I bought Lovesick a few days ago (along with one of Revlon's new cream blushes) and I really like it. It's a bit too purplely for me though, but I'll probably get used to it. I've just ordered Sweetheart from an American eBay seller (£7.10 and free international delivery for a limited time) and I cannot wait to get it! Smitten is another shade the UK doesn't have, but I really want it x
ReplyDeleteLovesick looks so beautiful. So glad these are out in the UK now! Can't wait to pick some up :) xox
ReplyDeleteI love the rendezvous color a lot!!

These look great. Revlon seem to be on a roll with the lip products this year! I wonder what else they'll bring out? I was wondering which of these colours you think are the nicest? I always try lipsticks on in the shop and then regret my choice of colour in broad daylight. I was hoping for a day to day wear one. Hope you're having a great day! xx
ReplyDeleteI really want one of these, I've got my eye on the shade Crush x
ReplyDeleteWowza, I didn't think that these would be my kind of thing but they look so great on your lips. I really like the look of Rendevous, it makes your lips look natural but really healthy in a pretty way :)

ReplyDeleteI want to try these sooo badly and I've been looking everywhere for them! I live in Hamilton (in Ontario) and I thought maybe it was just because I was in a smaller town, but even when I went to Toronto I could not find them. Aghh!! When will I ever be able to try these?
ReplyDeletesummerofwonders.blogspot.com
So glad Revlon have released these over here. I wonder if we'll get the same shade range as the US though.I certainly hope so! I have one of the Tarte Lipsurgence Tints (the True Blood one. Was a b'day pressie) and I know Clinique do the Chubby Sticks but both were miles out of my budget. Good old Revlon huh?
ReplyDeleteLou x
